  1. phone book

I dropped all advertising in the phone book/yellow pages as it worked out in a year we were making £140 out of an advert that costs us £800! we ran a survey for a year asking every customer where they had heard of us. SC
  2. Lancer G1 Eco solvent printer

We have a Lancer G2 which is a Mutoh Valuejet 1604. I believe the G1 is a 1304 or a 1204. It should flash up on the LCD screen what model it is. Basically the only difference is the fact that they have been painted blue! The company that supplied these has gone bust, which is a good thing as...
  3. Removing Vinyl

Here is what I do..... Put in a realistic estimate for removal (please note an estimate not a quote) of graphics. The customer will normally complain, so you offer them the use of your workshop after work hours for him to take them off, just lighting, electric and chemicals to pay for. Usually...
  4. Do you charge for white vinyl? (LOL)

I get this a t least once a week. Usually I ask them how much they have to spend? Then I laugh and put the phone down. Obviously this guy doesn't have any value of his business or ours. SC
  5. Figuring out a street bike font

Kawasakis ZZR is not a font it is a logo! You may find something similair though..... good luck SC
  6. Mutoh RJ-900c

Water Based printer useless for outdoor applications. Uses special expensive self adhesive vinyls! SC
  7. "Glasses Free" 3D Technology

I reckon that would give you R.S.I. of the eye lid. I hope and pray this is fake as I wouldn't want a machine that uses electricity to invoke a muscular movement so close to your brain. Absolutley nuts. SC
  8. Hondas new Technology

Yes just like Wal-eeeee but the girls demo-ing them are a tad slimmer---------------Well they are the moment! Then you wonder why humans have to go to the gym and exercise when we keep building things like this. Cool but pointless.! SC
  9. I'm looking for Eco-Ultra Ink Compatible

I have been using Lyson/Nazdar inks in my 1604 for over a year nowand the savings are great. Our machine is over 3 years old and it prints as good as the day it was bought this has been the best thing we ever purchased for the business. I certainly do not agree with the above comments on the...
  10. signlab trouble...not sure

I would break the objects path and then change start/finish node. Signlab throws issues like this but very rarely on something so simple. SC
  11. Graphtec or Gerber?

I would go for the Graphtec. They are built like a brick s**t house and will run forever. SC
  12. Just bought a Designjet 5500UV 60"

I wouldn't bother trying to laminate a banner. It is one of the best materials these machines print onto and it lasts fairly well. Please remember a banner is a temporary sign I will not guarantee a banner for more than 3 months and that is of a solvent machine. SC
  13. problem with mutoh 1618

I had something similair on my VJ 1604. What I did is take the back panel of and you can see the valves. I unscrewed the nut and pulled it out then syringed it back through. Then do a subtank fill (as it was empty) The valve must have got blocked/stuck. This has happened once more but I just...
  14. Helicopter Wrap

Instead of removing the old, leave it on and wrap over them. The guy wants it back to how it was before so when you remove the wrap of it's still there. SC
  15. HP Designjet 3500CP, a list of questions......

I had a graphtec JX2100 which has this as the printer part. To be quiet honest I would sort yourself a better machine even if it was free. This machine uses a printhead with every ink tank!! You buy four cartridges, printheads and a cleaning assemblies with every refill. We had big problems with...
  16. I need to turn my "business" around

We had a very bad year last year and had a number of problems and what with a recession going on. But last week our accountant came in told us our profits were down from previous years but only by about 3%. He reckoned if you went through all his clients the average for last year was 30% down...
  17. New Client Nightmare Job

Sorry Gary I thought I made this one clear as I had designed it already black red and silver/grey. The size didn't matter but the shape did. I thought everyone knew what CND meant but it means Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament. It was a new idea as my guick doodle is what I made out of the...
  18. Vendor Agreement

That seems rather harsh. I have never heard or seen this carried out in the sign community. This would have to be one helluva lot of work even to be half considering this sort of thing. Is this a multinational business? I would give the agreement to a lawyer to read through Isign and Fred have...
  19. New Client Nightmare Job

Jill You may have nailed it. That should do I've enough layouts to show her so i'll see what happens Monday. Thank You so much everyone. SC
  20. Looking for help on Printers and getting into the wrap business

I will tell you what is wrong with wrapping vehicles, etc. in the UK. No one here realises the potential and are happy to waste huge amount of advertising capital on newspaper adverts and radio/TV that are either in the bin or forgotten tomorrow. Mind you I have seen some bad wraps that were so...
