I get where you're coming from now. We take a similar approach with certain jobs for the same reason.

I know you know your business but that seems really cheap to me. You have to include transfer tape which costs about as much as the roll of vinyl, then packaging time, time to print shipping labels and the cost of packaging materials which aren't real cheap either. All that for $3.20/sqft...

We made some 40'x8' with 18oz with only hemmed the ends (with banner tape) like solventinkjet said but grommetted all the way around. The grommets haven't pulled out of them even after a couple of years of being up year round.

Do you output the cut file from Onyx to a staging/hot folder for the cuts? Dumb question, does it name the cut file because using the corel plugin with gosign, it outputs it as "output.plt" which requires another step of opening the folder and renaming it which is annoying. Unless I am doing...

Hot glue and strips of doorskin would make for a quick and accurate template that would look good as long as you could use a jig saw.

Will it do summa barcodes? The whole Thrive upgrade sales pitch at the bottom makes me nervous. If this will do everything needed, what's the need for Thrive?

I don't care what you have for computing power, some of these files are hogs and nothing in the realm of what we use will make it better. If you have time to sit around with everything you're running lagging and freezing then more power to you.

What are the limitations of using the Onyx RIP that is included with the Epson S series printers? Can it create OPOS marks and output for a Summa? I contacted Epson and they said it should but they don't know.

You did the last 2 faces and they price checked you on this one? That's annoying. 2+ day install on a simple project = loser. You are probably lucky that you didn't have to fool with it.

The RIPs are what I was eluding to. The power users will probably disagree but all of these RIPs seem so clunky and unintuitive. Versaworks was simple, 20 minutes of fooling with it and you got it licked. Rasterlink, despite what some say was almost as simple and as easy to learn as VW but...

It's just trying to figure out GoSign and the corel plugin. I hate changing software. To me, between the graphtec FC9000 and the summa S2T with the opos cam, there is no comparison. I should have just bought the summa to begin with.

I layer when it's applied, either wet and eyeball it or cut 4 squares in the corners on each layer to align it.

I use regular cast laminate, 3220, 8518, briteline... whatever is on hand. Works fine
