  1. flat bed printed on acrylic can you take the ink off?

We use orange plastic blades and Alcohol - either isopropyl or denatured (depending on the ink chemistry, if one doesn't work the other does). Let sit for a minute or two and keep it wet and watch for first sign of wrinkling and then it comes off like a decal.
  2. Need Help Printing and Plotting on separate machines

Set up your print file with any bleed in Flexi and setup a contour cut path, Select the whole thing and your Contour Cut Mark button should be activated - Choose "GCC 4 Point cut marks and click the green check mark. Send the file to print, then put it in your plotter, initialize, and then move...
  3. Intermediate vinyl for eco solvent printers?

Oracal 3551 Rapid Air - great vinyl and easy to apply. Can laminate with a premium UV laminate and will get you a good 7 year outdoor (plus) life.
  4. Need Help Graphtec cutting inaccurate

Need to calibrate these every once in a while. Joseph44708 gave you instructions. There is a target from Graphtec you can download if you want. I find this useful when calibrating (FWIW we have had ours for five years, calibrated it a year one, and again this spring - that is it and our volume...
  5. UV Cleaning Solution

I second using OEM flush. In my experience Isopropyl Alcohol also works on some, Denatured Alcohol on others depending on chemistry - they often need to soak in order to react with the alcohol or flush. The right flush is usually better. But if the machine sat for too long it may be a forlorn hope.
  6. attaching ACM to steel frame

listen to Texas_Signmaker, Gino, and JBurton - they all gave good advice. Your client doesn't know anything about high winds and signs. VHB tape or construction adhesives are only as good as the hold the paint has, and on iron signs the paint only haolds as good as the prep cleaning and the...
  7. Suggestions Suggestions for new Flatbed printer

You Really should talk to Mark Snelling on here from Hasco - he can help you out. We have a FluidColor with Gen 6 Ricoh heads and the heads are great! Yes Onyx can do layers of white and spot white, in fact it has more options than RasterLink for our Mimaki UCJV330 roll to roll UV. Only thing...
  8. White hard UV ink is printing with an ivory/yellowish tint

That sounds more like as layers are added the opacity of the white is reduced and the yellowish tint becomes more pronounced. There are many different shades of white - some with blueish tint, pink tint, or yellow tint. I am thinking your base white ink leans toward yellow and this is why as you...
  9. Alignment Issues on Stairwell

A couple of points to add: we prefer to use .64" overlap - I think .25" is a bit too small; the material can and does stretch when applied, so you must take care to apply in the same way for each panel. with a bit more overlap, and a shape like that, you might be able to cut away some of the...
  10. Roland VP-VS, where can I buy cutter pad ? O.5mm

Check with Mark Snelling on here.
  11. White hard UV ink is printing with an ivory/yellowish tint

White ink has some issues, which is why many printers have a motor to stir the ink and/or recirculate ink. It does yellow as it ages as well. Strictly speaking, you should print a block using white ink once per day (maybe 12"x12") and be prepared to purge the white ink out and add fresh ink...
  12. Vanguard flatbed color calibration

Not sure what design program you are using, but color format does matter: you will experience shifts in color when the original files is a jpg compared to a CMYK or Pantone. So same color converted to a different format comes out differently in many cases. Are you exporting the file as pdf, eps...
  13. Question Best Panel Saw for the Price

Safety Speed Panel Saw (H4, H5, or H6). An H5 will cut 5' tall panels vertically or can be turned to rip them, and is a good choice. Cons, makes dust. Pros included an option to hook up a vacuum to minimize dust and the ability to cut nice square panels. Different blades may be worthwhile if you...
  14. Pan face vinyl bubbling 2 months later

We pull the liners off as soon as we receive stuff like this so that it can off gas for 24-48 hours - missed suggesting that as the cause. All of your polycarbonate sign faces and roll stock acrylics need to be off gassed for 24-48 hours. I haven't seen a manufacturer spec for 72 hours, but I...
  15. Pan face vinyl bubbling 2 months later

I suspect the face flexed while you were applying this. Works out better if you have some scrap MDO and/or some 4x4s to put under the area you are working on so that it does not flex as you apply the vinyl
  16. need flatbed UV recommendation

I second Fluid Color. The company started out refurbishing old flatbed printers, and when they started offering their own they beefed up some of the parts that can be an issue. The Ricoh Gen 6 heads are a great balance between quality and productivity and reliability - just awesome combination...
  17. Mimaki UCJV330 printer purchase or Canon Colorado M3W Pro

We bought the UCJV330 too. We just did not have the volume to warrant the Cannon - the expense upfront and the service contract combined. I agree with Goatshaver on the feed and takeup system. but we usually just let the print hit the floor as we do very little roll-to-roll. Quality is excellent...
  18. Briteline Multigrip

We have used a lot of Multi-Grip and really like it. We've used it on wall murals several times with seams and no lifting. My question would be how much overlap are you using for your seams? On big murals we use a .69 overlap. We also apply it with a hard roller to make sure we get good...
  19. Super Duty lifting

Now I see this is the Hood and not the tailgate, so one thing to consider is the heat from the engine might be contributing to the failure. Not much you can do, but you can still find 3M Primer 94 - even 3M says you no longer need it, but this might be a good situation where it would prevent...
  20. Super Duty lifting

Sounds like it was not cleaned properly. A recess like that sound have been cleaned twice with alcohol. Also, was it post form heated after install? FWIW
