With current releases of Flexi, the driver isn't locked anymore. As far as I remember it was only locked with 8 and 10. Perhaps the right time to upgrade.

The best profile is the one created actually on your machine and media. Regularly, profiling with i1 should work if you do it right. Which version of Flexi do you have? What means exactly "not working"?

Try to calibrate media to improve the marker recognition. It's in the OPOS menu. For that, print a black rectangle of about 5 x 5cm. The cutter will read the black area and the background area and will calculate a contrast value. And will warn if the contrast can't be calibrated.
