  1. Need Help Upgraded to F11 from F7- problems with contour cut from old files

Bingo- we have a winner- the F7-8 contour color will be RGB so easy to separate/select and if you have the spot contourcut color in your pallet you can change. You just made an old man [and the Millennial who now has to deal with it] happy. Thank you, Gene
  2. Need Help Upgraded to F11 from F7- problems with contour cut from old files

That is what we have been doing, altho I would not say it is always simple. The F7 contour cut seems to be RGB and not a spot and is a stroke so it cannot usually be selected with the right click 'Select>Select Similar colors to do it efficiently. We have used F7-8 for 21 years and have...
  3. Need Help Upgraded to F11 from F7- problems with contour cut from old files

It does show no fill and a stroke that is not a spot color- the contourcut in the older versions does not show as a spot and that may be the problem. My brain is fried for today, I will check on the cmyk/rgb issue tomorrow. It would be nice if you could select the contourcut color with select by...
  4. Need Help Upgraded to F11 from F7- problems with contour cut from old files

I should have mentioned that we use Roland VersaWorks to print and cut, not the Flexi rip. Gene
  5. Need Help Upgraded to F11 from F7- problems with contour cut from old files

I have used Flexi for the last 22 years- from F5, suffered thru F6, finally landed on F7 and F8 which have worked great for me. We purchased several seats of F11 from a nice lady on S101 and like it... but we have years worth of files from old customers that we use regularly. When we open a...
  6. I did it...switched from Roland EcoMax2 ink to Solaris

I have happily and successfully used Triangle Inx on three printers over 15 years. A liter is about $130. I cannot remember a problem that I could blame on the ink. My opinion for what it is worth. Gene
  7. trotec laser vs bodor laser

Ben- I would say [having a lot of experience with Chinese lasers- four now over almost 3 years] that they can be a good value for the right person with the right needs. I should do a piece about these issues- I am a moderator on a forum dealing with [mostly] one brand [Ruida] laser controller...
  8. trotec laser vs bodor laser

Trotec is an RF laser, Chicom built lasers are CO2 glass tube lasers. I have had 2 Bodor lasers which are well built and reliable. There are a lot of ins and outs to Chicom lasers but can be good machines. RF lasers can engrave much faster BTW, otherwise performance is similar.
  9. Orajet 3551gra

I have used this material for years for various things, just lately I have noticed that the vinyl is not sticking to the adhesive [or visa-versa]. When pulling off a piece that has be on for a couple days, the adhesive stays on the substrate. Not a good thing. Anyone else notice this? Thanks Gene
  10. Need Help Printer Cutter for non-graphics business?

You will get a free education as well.
  11. Used Bodor Laser

I had two desktop Bodors with 100w Reci tubes. I think in general they are pretty good, but the two I had bout drove me around the bend. PM me and we can get into specifics, I have knowledge of Chicom lasers. Geen
  12. Must Have Accessories?

The first expensive thing I bought 22 years ago was a 6' tall Safety Speed Cut saw. It doesn't make as much money as the wide format printer, but it is just as important. And safe. And the first straight cut I ever made.
  13. What determines where VersWorks starts cutting?

You have not seen it. I don't believe in total randomness... but have used VW for years and it is as close as I have seen.
  14. Cutting ACS

If you happen to have a Safety Speed Cut panel saw... I am going to their headquarters for a 'reveal' meeting of their new ACM cutting attachment for their saws. I know the manager and they have high hopes for it and I will be a beta tester.
  15. Need Advice on Laser Cutter for Channel letters

Be aware that a 4x8 will be a different class of laser [no cabinet for shielding] and should be in a room with access limited to persons wearing glasses. For 4k by the way it will be a Chicom CO2 tube. I have some expertise in this area and some recommendations that I will not bore everyone...
  16. iDot instead of car magnets

You said it was not vinyl- IOW it is pvc free? I do laser cutting and pvc is a no-no. thanks Gene
  17. Got to thinking................................

Worked on the guidance and control systems for the Lunar Expeditionary Module in the mid 60s till they landed on the moon- then Honeywell dumped all of us. I restored 60-70s Corvettes for 25 years and owned a bodyshop, sold out and bought a Summa cutter and Flexi and taught myself to make...
  18. service call 0101

When we get this on our RF640, we shut the printer off on front panel, remove cover over the head and move it out of the way, make sure the arm that is sensed on the wiping station is positioned correctly [centered in the sensor] and restart. Has always cured the problem.
  19. Just In New Roland Cutter: Gr-640

At least once a day vinyl will catch in the sheet cut groove and jam up ruining the vinyl. Is this an automatic cutoff when the machine has done the contour cut? Or something else. I have removed the cutoff feature of the GX we have- we cut it off by hand if necessary. Thanks Gene Also-...
  20. Suggestions Roland GR 640 vs Graphtec FC 8600

Thank you for the input Gene, if paired with another printer do you know of, or think it would have any kind of problems? That I do not know- just it integrates well with VersaWorks [as you would think].
