  1. Just In New Roland Cutter: Gr-640

Curious you say you cut 20' long regularly. Is that print/cut or just cut vinyl? If it's print/cut are you using versaworks print/cut crop marks? And does the plotter have no trouble finding all 4 cropmarks without tricking the plotter? Sorry- I missed this question somehow. It is with...
  2. Suggestions Roland GR 640 vs Graphtec FC 8600

We have a GX500 and I have been impressed with it- accurate to 25' [maybe more- that is as far as I have dared] and plan to move to a GR-540 soon. If you are printing with a Roland printer and cutting the output... definitely get the Roland.
  3. Those no longer with us...

I read recently that when an old man [or woman] dies, it is like a library burning down.
  4. Question So, how many..........................

I don't think we are supposed to talk about politics?
  5. Question Just so I have this straight.........................

I would like to add a couple thoughts, If I may? I am appalled that Fred has been attacked, I don't always agree with him but have a *lot* of respect for him. I am almost 72 and was trained as a technician in the mid '60s and I still love the technical aspect of making signs, and I think have...
  6. Question need referral to outsource some redwood or cedar sandblasting, or glue-ups

Hi Doug- are you sure you are a new member? Good to hear from you again. Can't help but wanted to say Aloha. Gene
  7. Front cover

Never have had a front cover on any of my printers.
  8. Question How much vinyl is left on that roll?

I have a file to print a dozen logos for a local company that we do all the time- it has manual crop marks so if the length is not enough to do the normal registration marks [ie- roll runs out] you can still use the material- just hand cut when you have time.
  9. Wow.. Is it as annoying to you guys as it is me?

DHANTERSH OFFER BEST SWAMI.... where is our new dear leader?
  10. How much time does a vinyl cutter will stay competitive ?

I have two T750s, 21 and 13 years old, just opened one up this week [newer one oddly]. I kinda thought the OP was asking how long the cut vinyl business is going to be viable, in which case I would say about 10 years ago. Still cut a fair amount of solid color vinyl but that is not where the...
  11. Users of any of EJ, VG and RF i need your advice

We have an RF- same printer as the VS, but without the cut function, and only 2xCMYK. Great printer, very cost efficient and trouble free [using a bulk ink system]. I would research the VG printers carefully- I don't like what people are saying about them.
  12. Discussion So, how many are gonna...............................

All of those in favor of this stoopid stunt..... have no problem kneeling during the National Anthem or desecrating just about anything else patriotic or held close to most red-blooded Americans. I spent 6 years saluting the flag and lived through Kent State. Kneeling during the National Anthem...
  13. Discussion So, how many are gonna...............................

Is anyone else offended that the VP spent a quarter-million on the flight to stage his own protest?
  14. Need Help Roland RF-640 banding problem RARE CASE

We also have a RF about the same age, I have always had some banding in darker greens. Are you using Roland spot colors? Perhaps it is time for a new head? Ours is run hard but we print signage which is not a critical as looking at a wrap close up.
  15. Working Efficiently and respecting shop property

The beatings must continue until morale improves! And how do employees get in trouble with OSHA? I kinda consider that a management task.
  16. Wayfinding

Designer Sign Systems in Blaine, Mn is another.
  17. Suggestions anti slip tape for straight edge

The diy stores have rolls of a rubberized 3M product that is used for... non-slip. It comes in different widths and has nobs for anti-slip, which can be sanded with a coarse sandpaper which results in a lot more surface for grip.
  18. Sketch Up or other 3D software

The Roper is probably right, Jean. I have and am proficient at Vectric Aspire which is aimed at CNC routers and such, and I am really struggling with the other programs I have tried. I am into lasers and 3D printing now and need to be able to produce 3D models myself to print... it is not easy.
  19. Discussion How do you pay yourself?

Our acct has a Qbooks trainer who came out and set it up and comes out quarterly to make sure everything is OK. Acct files taxes at the end of the year. I haven't gone to jail yet.
  20. Discussion Don't be greedy..............................
