  2. Grimco buys Advantage Sign & Graphic Solutions/Advantage Sign Supply

The problem is a lot of the bigger suppliers with an "online" sales model is they often don't deliver on their own trucks, so shipping oversized items can get expensive. They also tend to carry only the most popular and profitable products. That's why I try to give as much business as I can to...
  3. Discussion Can I use brand logos on my design without permission (please read)

There's a story in one of the sign magazines that shows up at the shop that had a wrap with a bunch of copyrighted/trademarked artwork on it, and right in the article it said it didn't require permission because it was done as a personal project, not for sale. I was going to question them but...
  4. Grimco buys Advantage Sign & Graphic Solutions/Advantage Sign Supply

Didn't use Advantage much and use Grimco as little as possible. We are lucky to have several great independent sign suppliers in New England, Gartson and Hart get most of my business and there is also New England Sign Supply, NEPCO and Hyatts.
  5. Marketing! How do you market your business?

Like others I have said, we rely on repeats & referrals. But that doesn't work for a new business and marketing has certainly changed since I started. If I were to start over now I would make sure my website was great and that I was connected to all the social media sites and keep a constantly...
  6. Strange Edge issue today

Yea, the monitor should have nothing to do with it, other than displaying something screwing up on the edge. Pretty sure the Edge takes in the whole print file before it starts printing.
  7. Standoffs for clear acrylic signs

I agree, no stand off in the middle, unless it would be completely hidden. I've done 6 standoffs for pieces that size and it looks fine.
  8. Question Shimmer material from fifties and sixties

I think this was the company I remembered SolaRay® | Sequin Signs - Radiant Manufacturing
  9. Question Shimmer material from fifties and sixties

I remember them being used when I first started and they were called Reflecto Disks. there was an article about the process being revived. here is a place in the US that has them. Flitter Signs - refelcto-lite.com :: Portfolio
  10. Thin shiny media for gerber edge

How about Rtape VinylEfx? I like their shiny silver VinylEfx Decorative Smooth Silver
  11. Terminating Employees is Tough

It's best if the the termination is at the end of a series of warnings...so it's not a shock. It may also help to keep from taking a hit when they try to collect, although around here it's almost impossible to fight an unemployment claim. But there are situations where it should be immediate. I...
  12. Perforated Window Vinyl viewed from the back

Thanks all. Yep, looks like I'll be installing on face of the glass at the back of the case. Not worried so much about what the office side sees, just that people sitting in the lobby won't have a clear view into the office. And I'm subbing out the print so have to go with the standard material.
  13. HP Adhesive Polypropylene is Peeling!

I've always found it easier to apply adhesive back to a substrate than non adhesive to an adhesive substrate.
  14. Question Printing on Paper?

Look under Merchant members his contact info is there.
  15. HP Adhesive Polypropylene is Peeling!

Not sure why you're using poly and laminating, I would think a standard vinyl w/laminate would work better. Have you changed the laminate you use? Are you prepping the panels different? I would try a matched vinyl/laminate.
  16. Question Printing on Paper?

Paper is usually cheaper. Plus there are some nice finishes available. I have some adhesive back satin paper that is really nice for temporary displays. But I have used vinyl without laminate too.
  17. Question Printing on Paper?

Contact Bigfish, a merchant member who if he doesn't have it will direct you to someone who does.
  18. Perforated Window Vinyl viewed from the back

Seems like I would've noticed this...but I have never really paid attention to what the perforated window graphics look like from the inside. I have a client who has an interior trophy case with a glass front and back. The back is seen from inside an office. They want to give the office more...
  19. Review New logo and website

That symbol is also associated with Ireland, my first thought was you were and Irish or Irish American company. Not much about it suggests signs.
