Exactly. Older dampers don't have the valve and simply pull back on the system enough keep the balance but because of issues related to that, most new dampers do have the valve or there is an external one added in the machine design. It is a delicate balance which is why bad dampers tend to...
Not gravity fed but negative pressure. Think of it like dipping a straw in a cup of water, blocking the top opening with your finger, and then lifting it out of the water. The water stays in the straw. The pump pulls the ink down through the dampers and the head. Once it hits the damper, it's...
The ink cartridges are filled with ink and then any air is sucked out. That way when you install a new cartridge there are no air bubbles introduced but it also means the cartridge will not naturally fill the ink lines. A rubber seal called a cap top seals up with the bottom of the head and a...
Which type of crop marks are you using? Type 2 the laser should be outside the L. I believe that model does have a sensor sensitivity setting in service mode but I haven't worked on one in a long time. I would see if you can get a service manual for it.
Unfortunately there is no way to turn pinch roller settings off that I know of. I agree that for the most part it's a useless feature but some of my customers do rely on it for certain projects.
The manufacturer will always say there are things only a tech can do. The truth is, I don't learn...
Run a cleaning cycle and see if any ink moves into the waste tank. If it does and you still don't get any nozzles in the nozzle check, you probably have electrical issues. If no ink moves at all, you are probably just clogged up. I usually flush the pump out with cleaning solution to make sure...
They are comparable as far as repairing goes. Depending on the model, they can even have the exact same parts since a lot of their machines are based off Epson tech. Although that has been changing recently with Mimaki going towards Ricoh and Panasonic and Roland more toward Ricoh. I haven't...
Way better than solvent. We have a demo machine in the warehouse right now that we only use for demos which are far and few between these day. That thing doesn't lose a nozzle over weeks and months of sitting, obviously with the automatic refresh cycles on.
Thanks! We needed it! That other sign had been up since before even when you worked here! Stay away form Mimaki Latex unfortunately. If you want to go non-solvent and get rid of the grain, look at UV if you can.
