BTW...the five reams of colored paper only cost me $30.00...and time is worth a whole lot more. The investment has paid for itself many times over.
Good thread Tony. Ultimately the work order serves two purposes. #1) It contains instructions for the work, and your customer's information...
Whatever method you chose, it's only effective if you use it. I've struggled with just about every organizational method out there. Then one day, I started looking closely at where I was having the most trouble with paperwork and decided to create my own system that works for me. I come from a...
Each sheet shown above, except for the expense report, has its own binder right next to my computer monitor...within easy reach. Due to the large quantity, the expense reports are attached to receipts and invoices and are stored in the filing cabinet.
I've found that keeping everything...
It took a few really hard knocks, but I finally learned my lesson:
Rule #1 EVERY job gets a job number and a completed work order sheet...EVERY job....NO EXCEPTIONS!
Rule #2 Enjoy life...because you followed rule #1 EVERY time. It's hard to invoice for something if you don't have a paper...
Ker-Ching! Better yet, get 'em to commit on the purchase order. Purchase orders are your best friend...use them to your advantage...or risk the scenario you're now dealing with.

Exactly.
I've looked in the high grass for an hour or so, but still haven't found the errant spare tire that hit the old sign. I'm beginning to question my wife's story...but I think we'll set up a small search party and try again.
I still scratch my in wonder of just how much...

Too bad more people didn't have the foresight to pull the plug before getting over a barrel. I commend your humility, but even more your fortitude to not get sucked into some slick sales agreement...some of those salespeople can be real convincing.
There's nothing wrong with subbing out...
Welcome to the forum.
Whatever route you go, make sure you do a thorough market study to see if a "real" customer base exists (not just word of mouth from customers).
And on top of that, be diligent about a competetive analysis so you have a good feel for the players who are already in...
Yep...there's a lot of money in this business....but, unfortunately it flows the wrong way during the early years.
It's a great feeling when the business begins to mature and the cash flow becomes positive.

Stick around...it can get intense sometimes. There was a thread just this week that got a little ugly when a new member went a little overboard and allowed himself to become sidetracked from his original question. He was his own "thread pirate".
Overall, we're a decent bunch with a ton...

I would imagine there's some sort of stain that would enhance the color of the brick without having the maintenence issues of paint...contact a local mason and check into it.
