  1. Tough Call......................

*Insert here: school, church, movie theater, ...you name it...stuff happens just about everywhere. Sorry to say, this kind of trouble is not really a "new" problem at all...it's as old as time itself. In our day and age, $ensationalism $ells...big time. I'm all for the "big...
  2. Do you 'tag' your signs?

I'm a monument guy and nope...I don't tag my work as of yet, but perhaps in the future...with a small, removeable stainless tag on the back of the stone. But here's where it gets carried away: One of the bigger monument companies on the east coast literally sandblasts their logo (about the...
  3. What about your sign?

Now we're curious. Of all the professions out there, why would you not want to exhibit your work? You make it sound like proctology....just kiddin'. But seriously...I wonder what their signs might look like? JB
  4. What about your sign?

Here's a better photo...it was damp this morning and the photo above didn't do it much justice. It's more or less a driveway marker...something unobtrusive, yet lets customers know where I am. JB
  5. signs 365 post card

Also wondering about the JD impersonation for the past several months. Perhaps they were looking to co-brand. JB
  6. Vendors for menu signs like McDonald's?

Around here BK has trumped McD's with 100% all digital menu boards. McDd's typically has one for their McCafe, and the value menu, but not completely digital yet. JB
  7. What about your sign?

Two weeks after an errant spare tire hopped off a passing truck, I'm kinda glad our old sign got destroyed. This one is made from a slab of gray granite and Unilock landscaping block. I think I'm going to mulch around it instead of the pavers. JB
  8. Hard Coat for Inusaltion Board

My eye keeps getting caught on the "suggestive" lower portion of the "bones"....but it is what it is...just sayin'. JB
  9. Software data input

What you're talking about is called "serialization". You basically layout one image in your design program and then merge it with a database file such as MS Excel, or a text file that has the list of names and numbers that change from one design to another. SignLab and Omega have...
  10. The answer is "NEVER"

Likey, likey. The best tire store here in town used to keep a big whiteboard with a list of dead beat customers right behind the counter for all the customers to see. Nothing beats a little shame and peer pressure to make a guy pay his bills...especially when their friends remind them...
  11. The answer is "NEVER"

His money stinks the same as anybody elses money, so I don't see any reason why you can't continue and just demand payment up front. On the other hand, if he's draining you of time and energy everytime he wants something then let it be known to him...and move on. JB
  12. What about your sign?

    A business with no sign...is a sign that you're too busy....well....maybe. JB
  13. What about your sign?

Due to the mishap last week (posted here: http://signs101.com/forums/showthread.php?t=96558&highlight=friday+the+13th) I'm in the process of rebuilding mine and have come to the conclusion that I'm kinda happy that my old one was destroyed by an errant car tire bouncing off the trailer of a...
  14. GS15 error code problem :-/

Two more days left on these babies: http://www.ebay.com/itm/180929754336?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
  15. GS15 error code problem :-/

Sounds like help is needed from the Plotter Doctor. JB
  16. GS15 error code problem :-/

Are you using a "spooler" function in your cut program. If so, either abort the plot or close the plot spooler window. I then shut off the plotter, wait a few seconds and then restart it and press the reset button. That usually seems to solve any hiccups I have. JB
  17. Grandpa Dan's New Ddigs - Imagination Corporation

He has more creativity in his little finger than I have in my whole body. His dimensional signage for each one of his contractor is proof of his top-notch skills and consciousness about "looking sharp". Jim
  18. SignLab AI import Eureka momemt

Well, after using SignLab and AI for seven years now, I had a eureka moment in the wee hours of the morning that will be long remembered. To make a long story short, we use AutoCAD and AI to do the bulk of our node editing and artwork creation for monument work (stencil cutting). Sometimes...
  19. cool new technology

Cool...but what kind of emf (electromagnetic fields) is it pumping into you? JB
  20. New and seeking insight

You don't say as to whether or not you'll be cutting the unbilical cord with your employer, but either way, make sure you have a solid business plan in place. A good business plan starts with the customer and works backward from there. It's very easy to get caught up in the daily...
