  1. Suggestions Acm...........................

Yep, our scrap dealer doesn't want any ACM, just solid aluminum. I may get away with a little other stuff mixed in that is attached to old sign boxes but they check out the aluminum loads pretty carefully.
  2. 3mm Pvc Ok For Hanging Post?

ACM is a good option, but they may still think it's aluminum. We do 10mm coro for some customers.
  3. 5 Ft X 20ft Banners Installed On Plywood

I don't think she "und"erstands. And neither do I. If an installation requires posts & plywood why bother with the banner? Just make the plywood the sign. Banners usually mean "cheap and temporary" (not always but usually), so if the client want a 5'x10' temporary sign where there is nothing to...
  4. High Per. Vinyl Failing In Winter

He's talking about high performance (cast) vinyl on propane tank trucks (don't think anyone, even some of the newbies here, would put perforated vinyl on a metal truck). And yeah, they say no windex, but I've never (in 30 years) had vinyl fail because the surface was cleaned with windex. But...

  9. I inherited a sign shop that I want to keep.

question number one- Where do ya'll find help? I posted an ad on craigslist and got zero hits. This is a problem for all sign shops, it's not a common skill set. I would continue advertising and if you have sign supply salespeople/drivers coming to your shop let them know you're looking...
  10. Need Help What order to Choke/Spread with Silver Medal?

So you're printing three colors, silver medal, black & red on white? I would do this as red and black on silver vinyl. Instead of choke/spread could you try making the black ring a complete separate piece which overprints on the red circle? To save the silver test with another color till you...

  15. Suggestions 5x5 Reflective Town Entrance Sign

What colors is the sign going to be? I have noticed a lot of large reflective prints lately (including a town welcome sign) that are impossible to read. Reflective signs are often best with either the background or the text reflective, not both.
  16. Small Cut Letters - Opinions on Vinyl/Paint/acrylic on face only

We've done it on PVC and Acrylic letters. If you want to paint use acrylic.

  19. Signs can kill

This is why people get a little heated sometimes about doing things right...(of course it could be the fault of the property owner for not maintaining the sign) Sign Blown by Wind Strikes, Kills Man in Hunting Park | NBC 10 Philadelphia
