  1. First "real" banner

I needed something quick for a trade show this weekend. It goes behind a 4' x 4' floor display and it will eventually hang in our booth at a craft mall. I've done a few things with Photoshop for our brochure, but this one was a little more fun...even throughout the initial learning curve of...
  2. Photoshop 101: Starting from Ground Zero

That's what I'm looking for....a good foundation. I downloaded CS5 and put in about 12 hours on it by desiging a banner for our trade show display. I'm hopelessly hooked on it. And besides that, CS5 is the last version I can upgrade to from CS2. JB
  3. making new logo

Even Wm. Shakespear couldn't have penned a word picture this vivid. I about fell out of my chair! Absolutely a classic....thanks. JB
  4. making new logo

Five words can fix this logo: 1) Mike 2) Stevens 3) Foreground 4) Middleground 5) Background JB
  5. Rubber stamps

Start with your customer first. Take a long hard look around town and find out what product or service is being overlooked or under-served. If it's rubber stamps, then do stamps. But base your decision on facts, not whims. I've known several people who've invested considerable sums of...
  6. Another customer fired....

And who says we're not looking for ways to help out our competitors? This is my favorite method of assistance. JB
  7. Photoshop 101: Starting from Ground Zero

The laser etching I'm talking about involves making a halftone image from a photo using Adobe Photoshop...like what you see etched on black granite monuments. JB
  8. Telephone survey

Option #1): Could have been a sales rep from Gerber trying to get the skinny on Roland Option # 2): Could have been your competition trying to get the skinny on you. JB

Welcome aboard. We don't do diapers, so please change it before logging on.
  10. Another customer fired....

Extending credit is a very slippery slope. We've all been beaten up at one time or another, and if there's one thing I've learned through it all is that CREDIT MUST BE EARNED, NOT FREELY GIVEN. If they're really interested in working with you, they'll be more than willing to accommodate...
  11. Don't Bust a Gut!

I absolutely love this one...especially the two little guys at the end: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_YQpbzQ6gzs And be sure not to miss the original uncut verison of the little guys....a classic, for sure. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uMuorX2mgrw&feature=related
  12. Photoshop 101: Starting from Ground Zero

Since we do mostly monument and stone engraving, we've never had the real urgency to use Photoshop other than to do a quick brochure. But now that lasers are widely used to etch photos on granite, we'd like to start learning Photoshop from gound zero...the correct way. We started with...
  13. Vinyl removal disclaimers

All in good fun. Slapakiss is on the right track. Try as you might, you can't possibly cover every contingency, but get as many of them as you can without it looking "legalese"...but leave yourself some wiggle room as well. Too much stuff and you might scare them away. Most likely...
  14. Vinyl removal disclaimers

Perhaps a little vague, yet functional. You mignt want to modify the double negative for your non-redneck clientel. JB
  15. vinyl for a cop car

+1 They're beginning to do that alot around here, especially with black. They make for a very subtle "marked" vehicle that effectively doubles as a semi-unmarked vehicle. JB
  16. Ouch!

Gives a whole new theme to "please take a number". JB
  17. Tweaker Customer.

What's it going to take to make that thing ADA compliant? JB
  18. When the unexpected happens

Stacy, Our condolances and prayers for your family. Two weeks ago, I had posted a similar plea: http://signs101.com/forums/showthread.php?t=86914 It's difficult to think about those things, but it's absolutely vital for those of us who must step in when a need arises. God Bless...
  19. gsx15+ and usb to serial problem.

Double check your baud rate. It's possible that the output of data is over running the capacity of the plotter. If that is the case, keep slowing it down until your plotter can keep up. Another option would be to drop in a serial card. You can get one for around $30.00. JB
  20. Signs 101 has reopened

Thanks Fred. I am re-inserting my electronic shunt, and have turned on the Signs101.com drip...full throttle. JB
