  1. Grainy prints after new head installed. ( Mimaki cjv150 )

This in an exception.... This is our 7th Mimaki over the past 21 years (2 JV3, 3 JV33, 2 JV150). All have been top notch machines with excellent print quality. Just this second JV150 that we just uncrated and setup is doing this.
  2. Grainy prints after new head installed. ( Mimaki cjv150 )

Starting to wonder if it might be a new "old" printhead that could cause this. Seeing the exact same thing here. We bought 2 JV150 machines 4 years ago. Put on into production asap - been great. Ended up not needing the second one so it sat in the crate still brand new and unused. Pulled it out...
  3. Using Magnetic Material Tips

On your Mimaki you would also need to rig up some sort of infeed and outfeeds to keep the magnet off the pre and post heaters as those are steel. I actually did it once years ago on our older JV33. Worked but the print quality was not very good and was just an overall pain in the butt.
  4. PDF Not Importing to Flexi Correctly

Open with Photoshop and save as a flattened tif image at about 125dpi. That should maintain good clarity without the jpg compression.
  5. Fellers ordering anxiety

They only do if you just accept the price listed on the website....... if you ask you sales rep what your price it, that is a different story. Pro tip - for Fellers, Grimco, Glantz, etc if you want the best price, you MUST find out who your sales rep is and contact them (email or phone) to find...
  6. Is this a capping issue?

Hopefully OEM dampers..... That has bit me more than once when we had our JV33 with cheap generic ones. One problem with troubleshooting above the head is that its a negative pressure system which makes finding a leak very hard since ink will not leak out, it will just suck tiny amounts of air...
  7. Mimaki cjv150 dot position lines wonky

The newer JV150/CJV150 (300) machines do not have head voltage adjustment. At least not in the service manual. The section in the service manual just has a bit of Chinese text that translates to "Description omitted for development confirmation functions. Do not use.". I have not looked in the...
  8. Never had this question asked before..............................................................................

We tell them that we trim the wrap away from all factory applied silicone caulking since the vinyl will not adhere to it and it is near impossible to 100% remove the silicone. I'd tell them that is their responsibility.
  9. Need Help Need help selecting laminator used only for applying transfer tape

Like Jfiscus we also have an older GBC Arctic Titan (165) that we exclusively use for app taping and mounting. Used to be our main laminator years ago. Keep usually 4 different roll sizes of tape on it. As far as feeding, it just takes practice and finesse to get it to where you almost never...
  10. What would you pay? What employees are worth.

It also varies wildly by where you are located - cost of living, size of population, and a bund of other aspects all make a huge difference. There is no one size fits all wage. What an installer makes here where I live versus an installer with the same experience and responsibility in some other...
  11. Suggestions 3m primer and avery vinyl

Interesting. We have used it on Avery quite a number of times without issue here.
  12. Unable to move pdf file layers to back

Use the "Design Editor" tool pallet under "View" menu, second objects tab. Probably are on different pages.
  13. Need Help Flexi 21 Can't print to Desktop Printer

Yours shows that it is trying to use a negative scale..... I'd try changing that scale number manually. No idea myself on the issues others are having though. Works fine in ours but it might be since we are using the perpetual license version which I dont think gets the same updates like the...
  14. Customer wants graphic on vinyl table

We have - what we did to increase durability was to use a polycarb laminate that was cut 1/2" larger than the print. Learned that trick for doing long term floor graphics years ago. Tricky to setup and do though.
  15. alternative for 3M IJ180CV3 & 8518

Agree that the pricing on 3M has gotten out of control but the others have also gone up as well. We are in the same boat in that the removability is a MAJOR selling point. Sure we can save the customer a few bucks up front but if I have to charge them $800 for removal in 5 years instead of $400...
  16. Mimaki MBIS ink system ink costs

Bordeaux also makes 2L ink bags for the Mimaki MBIS III bulk system and those work great. Also vastly cheaper at about $200 per bag (more of less depending on the dealer you order it through, how much you order, and if you haggle on price). Works every bit as good as the OEM Mimaki ink. We have...
  17. Good evening folks, looooong time lurker here

I'd also note on the inks.... not sure what ink configurations the Versacamm supports but 8 color will only add additional gamut if there are actual additional ink colors like Orange or Violet. Lc, Lm, and Lk add precisely zero additional gamut as those are just watered down cyan, magenta, and...
  18. Mixing 3M Vinyls with Avery overlaminates

We have mixed laminate brands many times over the years with zero issues.... In our experience over the years both brands laminates are pretty comparable. I prefer us to not mix brands but sometimes that is all that is available so you do what you have to.
  19. "gotta have this one" font request

Find My Font..... Years ago they did a promotion here on Signs101. https://www.findmyfont.com/ We use it a lot. Works great - it first will search all local fonts (including ones not installed if you have just a big font folder and you set the path to it in the options) and then it searches...
