  1. Versaworks 4.6 update - Seamless tiling

Like I said, nothing revolutionary, just another way. Previously, if you wanted to do that in VW (which I never did, and probably still won't even with this new function), you would have to 'clip' the file then scale it to the required size. Reason being, that you cannot scale with unlocked...
  2. Versaworks 4.6 update - Seamless tiling

Hi Fred, I'm playing with it right now actually. It lets you see a preview of the appearance, however to my disappointment, does not allow you to play with scaling at all. The feature simply lets you clip the tile as required (I can't see why you would clip a seamless tile though), and...
  3. tiling stickers with zero space between?

    Here... http://download.rolanddg.jp/en/color.html#rvwlocalup
  4. Versaworks 4.6 update - Seamless tiling

So this update isn't bad! Just drop in a seamless tile directly into VW and it tiles it for you. The new function is called 'step and repeat', and has a variety of setup options within VW. This saves you having to generate pre-tiled art, I can also see it working equally well for doing...
  5. tiling stickers with zero space between?

Check out VW 4.6. Just came out the other day - it has a new step and repeat function. Haven't had the time to play with it too much yet, but it may help. From what I can see so far, it's for doing tiles/repeat of a file.
  6. Another Logo with the Ribbon Effect

It looks intentional. On the coloured version, it is where the ribbon flips?
  7. Dave Drane...

Sorry to hear this sad news. My condolences.
  8. VS-640 issues

I've seen ink fade, that's another one of my pet peeves on this machine. Are you referring to random thick, starvation looking banding? Mine's a dx5 though... and i've narrowed that problem down to mis-aligned take up dancer bar ... maybe. One of my techs thought that was nonsense... Still...
  9. Discussion: RIP that calculates vinyl cutting time

So, I guess it doesn't exist then... Wonder what's stopping them... it's obviously doable.
  10. Discussion: RIP that calculates vinyl cutting time

Thanks for that. Interesting. Have you found it to be accurate (enough)?
  11. Laminator shopping

Royal Sov user here and happy. Agree with the 60" recommendation, and I strongly also recommend feed/take up option.
  12. Roland Vs 540 how to reduce head movement

I've noticed "static" is one of the top 10 of many rolodex options available when just about any problem is encountered. It was not dry here when I had the exact same problem, and I am in the southern hemisphere. I call undisclosed FW bug.
  13. Matte Red Wrapping Film

Can't you matte lam some red 3m180?
  14. VS-640 issues

Had to run it with zero heat. Print and dryer set to OFF. Roland heater temp fluctuates enough to cause a colour shift in a matte material.
  15. Roland Vs 540 how to reduce head movement

Not human error. That happened to me on my vs640 about 2 months ago. Never seen anything like it in a year and a bit, then I got 2 of those funny garbage data things in the space of 2 weeks. I don't know if it has anything to do with it, but since then, there have been around 3 firmware...
  16. Roland Vs 540 how to reduce head movement

I'm not sure if it's a recent change, but the carriage speed seems to be allowed for. The scan... no, still not connected :(
  17. Don't Disrespect Me!

The grand-daughter in Gran Torino. They exist. Not like.
  18. Discussion: RIP that calculates vinyl cutting time

So, the laser machine has a feature which I am sure can be applied to a vinyl cutting machine, ie, my roland vs. You send a job to the laser, push a button to simulate job time, and in 20 seconds, it tells you how long the job will take. I was a little careful with this, thinking it may not...
  19. Good Orange?

+1. forget it. In saying that though, if you use a really bright white vinyl, you can get a pretty good orange... just need to play with your numbers a little to get it just right. No black, no cyan... just magenta and yellow... for the 'vibrance' you gotta rely on the white of your...
