  1. Should I bother with this risky job?

This is so easy... "I can make the sign face, but legally I am not allowed to install it to a questionnable structure which poses as a potential safety hazard in a public space." End of story.
  2. I may not be able to use this...what d'ya think?

Not a bad start! I think if you're capable of doing that much, then you have way more to gain by applying yourself and learning the rest. Fine tune your gradients and make the lights circular again, they look a little squashed.
  3. Need fill help!!!

Reason for not filling in Corel is because the path is open. Close the path and it will fill. But you say it's a JPEG... so there are no paths, so you can't really do much... or did I miss something. From memory there is also an option somewhere in Corel which let's objects behave the way...
  4. Shop Lighting

I'm not the resident colour guru, but from everything I have seen in the profiling process, D50 is the standard. That doesn't mean it's correct, but it's the standard. If you're constantly making signs for an indoors venue which has a different spec light, you may want to make a profile for...
  5. print the colors you are seeing on the screen

I 90% half agree with around 10% of what is being discussed here. I hate colour.
  6. what would you do serious question

I agree. If you haven't "worked" it's pretty clear cut. If you have worked, it's still clear cut... with a bit of explaining.
  7. Need my truck lettered!

Greece went with blue and white. A lot o' good that did 'em.
  8. How can this company get away with crap?

Still better than "diesel in arabic"
  9. VersaWorks questions/ GX500 kudos

Someone here I think Malkin, helped me with this a little while back. Very handy knowledge and it should be in the manual! VW works in the same sequence as your layer stacking order in Ai. I group lines of 10cm or so - depending on the desin - and stack them sequentially. Will save you...
  10. Transparency

Do you print from Ai to VW or do you save as eps and drag/drop into VW? Either way, in flattener options, make sure you don't convert strokes to outlines...
  11. Transparency

    1) Create your cutline 2) Flatten or rasterise the logo 3) Place cutline from step 1 on the uppermost stack layer or on a separate layer on top of your art. I usually can print from Ai to VW without trouble though most of the time. If you do it as per your normal steps, what happens? The...
  12. Roll to Roll Printers

    Roland VS640.
  13. Customer wants engraved Lamacoid

Many small letters = laser (universal user here, and happy) Few large letters = rotary (I hear vision isn't bad, but roland would be pretty user friendly I imagine...) Gravograph would be a good choice, bit pricy though.
  14. Wow....Just, Wow...

What a joke. I tried being lenient with one of my lesser performing (understatement) suppliers more than a few times, and was very civil. Without getting upset, openly discussed all the points, offered constructive criticism, suggestions, which seemed to be happily welcomed. I thought I'd...
  15. Buying a Laminator in 2 Days. Which one?

    Happy RS user here.
  16. Recommend ecosolvent printer/cutter

Welcome, What do you want to use it for? It makes a big difference. You may want to revisit your business plan if you only have 5k to spend on a printing set up. It might be better for you to start off with cutting only, and sub out printing. 5k is more than enough to set you up with...
  17. Roland BN-20

In the words of Talking Ben. "No".
  18. Polish your resume'...your dream job is calling!

Man... compared to the things that can go wrong with printing... we have it good. Real good. Ferrari tech vs Roland tech... "Bandingliado?!" hahahahahaha.... haaaaaaaaaaaaahahahaha!
  19. logo idea

    faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa........ .........rrrrrrrrrrrrrrkkkkkkkkkk!
  20. Upselling magnetics

Smart, inexpensive, easy to install, and most importantly, effective. I am trying to talk a customer into seeing the light this week with little luck... your friend is lucky to have you designing, and you are lucky to have a friend who knows what something good looks like. Match made in heaven lol.
