  1. I am thinking of buying a Mutoh printer.

Zeth, Think hard about the JV-5. Here's a thread from another site that gives you some insight into that printer. I've heard this from A LOT of JV-5 users. Seriously, look at the 1604 or 2 of them for that matter. They'll be cheaper than one JV-5 and you'll get much better reliability and...
  2. NEED HELP!! Lines on prints

Also, you might want to run your head height on High, but turning down the platen heater should help.
  3. Fingerprints on UV prints

Gloves....Saves a lot of headache and helps minimize a NEVERENDING problem!
  4. Looking for some feedback on a Colorspan Gator

How much are they asking for it Henk? It's a good printer, but needs quite a bit of maintenance and must be ventilated so you don't die from VOC overdose!
  5. I need a GOOD laminator-60"?

Royal Sovereign RS-1400 55" cold model or the RS-1650C 65" Cold model. Great laminators, good pricing available. Good luck!

  7. The one thing you appreciate most from signs 101

OK, I'll be serious. I'm not here for the girls. This site has been such a great resource for me as a distributor. Not only to network and meet new shops and develop new relationships, but also to see how diverse the sign industry is. I've met some old-school hand painting shops along with some...
  8. The one thing you appreciate most from signs 101

Ya, it's like the radio. You just have to be able to talk a smooth game. The girls here will never know how ugly you are since they can't see your face....well that was until someone had the brilliant idea to start the "Mug Shot" thread a few weeks ago.
  9. It's me!

    Welcome!
  10. overprint option?

Typically overprint or "double-strike" is used for either printing on clear or translucent. It adds a second (or third/fourth) identical layer of ink on your pass to give you optimum density of clear or semi-clear material. The problem is finding the right density without bleeding. I've never...
  11. Q100 and the FC7000 whats the differance besides branding

If I remember correctly, there are a few differences: 1) The Graphtec plotter will do 600g of downforce compared to 400g on the SW brand. 2) The ARMS system is standard on Graphtec where it's an option on the SW model (That's what I've been told, but I'm sure SW can respond if I'm wrong) 3) I...
  12. Kitsap SignCo

Nope, not unless you get into the Scitex branch of HP which is 3-4 more than your 98UVX, but well worth the $$$. HP ColorSpan also has the 9840uv, but that's been hit or miss for some as well. Sounds like you're in a tough spot, but hopefully you'll get this all straightened out soon.
  13. Hi All from Taylor Mi.

  14. Valuejet 64"

While I think a lot of what you said is true, I also think you underestimate the dealer channel. Just like "mom and pop shops," there are also "mom and pop" dealers that specialize in only a few products versus the whole enchilada. Honestly, I will toot my company's horn because I hear this all...
  15. Valuejet 64"

It cracks me up how it's always the printer's fault, never the end-user! I've had the ValueJet for well over 2 years now and I have NEVER had issues like this. Granted, I create all my profiles in-house, and I'm good at it, so that helps, and I have a RIP that backs up nearly everything I throw...

    Welcome from Seattle, WA!
  17. ValueJET 64" Physically Cleaning the Head

I agree with GTS. As long as you use the cleaning solution from the cleaning carts, you won't do any accidental damage to the heads, and on the 64 and 98" units, there is MORE than enough room to clean around the head without making you too nervous. Good luck!
  18. Mutoh 1608 flatbed hybrid

RC, Graph, the customer I told you about locally who was purchasing one has backed out so we will most likely be the first dealer up here to have one. He thought the printer was priced lower and now is having buyer's remorse. Also, units won't be shipping to end-users until May so he might have...
