When I do pictorial work I use a combination of flats, quills, fitches, artist brushes, air brushes, and plastic bags wadded up and dipped in paint. Depends on the effect needed.
I would do this with 3/4" MDO provided weight isn't an issue. Cut out the shape, sand the edges smooth, really smooth, especially the face holes. I would use an oil based primer then a couple coats of Marine enamel. OneShot or Ronan for the lettering and pictorial work. I think this makes a much...
To get the shaded effect on the drop shadow in Coreldraw, I would first make the dropshadow as in Oldpaints example. Then use the simplify function to trim the underlying section away. Break the shade apart into separate objects. These pieces can then be shaded using the fountain fill tool.
I know a lot of people recommend Mike Stevens Mastering Layout book on here. If you don't have a copy, go to a nearby sign shop and ask if you can read the page on Natural Layout. Memorize this page. Just that principle of layout alone will carry you through most of the design challenges you...
Hey Marlene - The George Takei site came to the rescue of my daughter when she went to Comiccon in San Diego as Duela Dent (a somewhat obscure comic book character), and someone took one of the many photos snapped of her and made a snarky meme. George put it on his site with an even snarkier...

My signshop has an attached music studio. I've been home-based since I closed my commercial shop in the mid 80's and I love the spontaneous jams that sometimes occur with clients. They can peek through my interior office window and spot the drums or the piano and little "mini-sessions" occur a...
QUOTE( a letter with thick outline i using only the broken apart outline... thats the top and pocketing down the inner outline for letter top and outer outline for the background.. backgrpund might textured that also made a type of pocketing where a digital model of texture milled between...
I think there may be more Grumpy Old Trolls hiding under the bridge waiting to eat unsuspecting nubes than there are nubes trying to start another bashfest.
This isn't my first vehicle, but it's my first one with only two wheels! I received this as a gift last week. Now I just need a license, a helmet, and a tattoo...
Hi Folks - I have just finished up all lettering and the graphics on a Handi-bus and the client now wants window perf on the rear window and also partially down the top section of all the 16 side windows. Will this pose any problems only doing the top third of the glass? Do I need to seal that...
