  1. City logo design critique

I like that script also. Is it a Mike Stevens typeface? It has need of some node editing to fix a few "flat tires", but I had no problem reading it in the thumbnail.
  2. Getting some business cards printed, What to put on them? Show me yours!

Here is mine. The picture is the view out my office window. I print 'em on 15oz banner material and coat 'em with clearshield. They are soft to handle and always get a positive reaction. We are located in a marine environment/rain-forest and they look good wet. I can leave them on boat...
  3. Getting some business cards printed, What to put on them? Show me yours!

"really simple works better then a load of crap" Sage words, Joe. But your example doesn't live up to your statement. That card is terrible. Bad kerning. Ugly fonts, poor layout and hideous colours, with lame clipart scrolls. And it's "than a load of crap, not then a load of crap".
  4. Wrapping a Box

Is this the box where you will be keeping all your ossified wombat snot?
  5. Buying a Cutter !

I've been running an Ioline Studio 8 plotter everyday for 25 years. Never had to service it or repair it in any way. I just change the blades every once in a while, and go back to cuttin' money.
  6. Enclosed Trailer Job Pricing

I'm glad you got paid. It not all bad. The font you used for Night Hawk looks okay.
  7. Enclosed Trailer Job Pricing

Why are the corners lopped off the outlines around the main text?
  8. Attention Americans

We don't need him anymore. We have Corb Lund and the Trews.
  9. Attention Americans

If we keep him up here will you promise to keep Neil Young down there?
  10. 1Shot on vinyl? OK or No K?

Thanks Craig, I'm going to follow your advice and lightly scuff the surface where I am going to paint. I knew when I first posted, that even if I said to keep the 1shot hate out of the thread, some folks would not be able to. I have been using 1shot since the mid-seventies and it is still my...
  11. 1Shot on vinyl? OK or No K?

I've used krylon in the past many times, but in this case I'm not spraying anything. I have aluminum that came pre-vinyled. It's now cut to shape. I'm using a combination of printed graphics and cut vinyl and I just want to outline the larger letters with red and black like in the design I...
  12. 1Shot on vinyl? OK or No K?

I'm already in the middle of cutting the aluminum to shape.
  13. 1Shot on vinyl? OK or No K?

Thanks for the fast replies folks. We get the aluminum from Sherine Industries in Vancouver, and it comes with a white vinyl laminated to it. I'm cutting it to follow the contours of the lettering and graphic components and I want to hand paint a 2" border and an outline around it. Both my...
  14. 1Shot on vinyl? OK or No K?

Hi and Happy New Year. I am doing a 4x16 ft sign on vinyl coated .081 aluminum that I would like to use both printed graphics and cut vinyl on. I also want to hand letter some portions of the design with 1shot enamel. Does anyone know if I need to prime the vinyl for the 1shot first, or can I...
  15. Trick to lay down parking sign?

I just did a big bunch of 12x16s and I used to use a variation of Bobs method. This time I clamped a trouble light to the corner leg of my work table shining upward and hung two edges of the sign over the edges of the table and you could line up the decal easily. This has been quickest, most...
  16. Mechanic Shirt Design

At the risk of coming off sounding too picky, on the name-tag I think making the capitals slightly larger would look less awkward. But nice work non the less!
  17. Post "YOUR" business logo

Thanks, Billct2. That one has been around the longest. I drew it back in the '80's. Black and white designs have a lot of impact.
  18. Post "YOUR" business logo

After 30+ years in the sign trade, I've never settled on a one-logo-fits-all. I use a few different designs depending where I'm gonna put it. Here are a few I use. I don't know if I create confusion by not being consistant, but I'm a one person + wife type of shop and I'm too busy as it is. Not...
  19. Scam email......sheesh.

Wow! I am Tom at Tomsigns, and I didn't even know I was in trouble. I sure hope I'm okay...
  20. Life of Pi ... A Remarkable Film

The movie was really good, but I just finished reading the book and it's one of the best novels I've read in years.
