  1. Installer Training ?

And a building due to be taken down in a few months time for them to practice on. Or, one due to open in a few months time for them to practice on, and learn the joys of installing and extalling. Should be a fun week or two.
  2. How is this made

Hopefully not just fixed to to the wooden slats!
  3. Laminating prints onto correx

Update. Took a week off a couple of weeks ago (cellular not spot :). Worried day and night for the first few days about the logistics, space for handling, time of printing, Rumsfeldian issues. Went into a town*, called a larger print supplier who I respect, got the details of who they would...
  4. Does illustrator "bloat" pdf's?

Had a colleague send me a file, September 6th, from Photoshop - a banner, black text, white B/G. 750ppi (why), 32bit (WTF) 2000x800mm. 11GB. After it had crashed the rip a few times (need more coffee), I looked at the properties of this abomination. Quick trip to Illustrator, 768KB. Just got...
  5. 5000K D50 retrofit lights (or how to see the truth on a budget)

I'm pretty sure this is almost the same lamp, though a 48" version - pack of 24 is $750, shipping from USA
  6. 5000K D50 retrofit lights (or how to see the truth on a budget)

The lighting fixtures are standard old school 60" flourescent housings, the tubes are the special ingredient. 5000K is a good start, these just have a really full colour spectrum and meet ISO standards for proofing. We had to order a case of them from China, took a month, but if you want to be...
  7. Laminating prints onto correx

I think the angle iron might be a good call - heavy duty mushroom velcro, and felt pads on the the return. Thanks - I appreciate the help. PS, just seen an immaculate 80600 posted on a UK sign board - would cut down the print time by an order of magnitude... £12k would get me the printer and a...
  8. Laminating prints onto correx

Turns out that they are not (though I do love the idea). Client hadn't heard of this either. They are to go in foyers of the venues the production will go to. New curve ball is that they'll be in public areas, do I have a solution for anchoring them to carper or hardwood floor? I'm thinking...
  9. 5000K D50 retrofit lights (or how to see the truth on a budget)

A snafu on the whole lower level of the project. Combination of architect, QS, contractors, budget overuns, and a distracted boss. All the walls were in, painted etc, and a very tight timeline for move. Fubar'd, but non slip. And a right royal pita to hoover.
  10. 5000K D50 retrofit lights (or how to see the truth on a budget)

    They were strictly functional Corona's
  11. 5000K D50 retrofit lights (or how to see the truth on a budget)

We moved into our new premises on April 1st, and I'm working in a basement. I'm kind of picky about colour management, and gave very specific instructions to the lighting contractors about what I needed. Somewhere in the fit out, my 5000K D50 lights got substituted for some very fancy smart...
  12. Laminator Purchase Checklist

Cost/yard is peanuts in comparison to cost/time! Do you have a part number for it?
  13. Laminator Purchase Checklist

I suspect supplier is right pondian only, and when I say framing, I mean picture framing.
  14. Laminator Purchase Checklist

Last few years, I've been using a framing tape that plays very nicely. But I have several nice* heavy duty tape dispensers scattered around. *unless you address them at the wrong angle, in which case they become psychotic evil bastards, and you spend the next few hours with tape, plus shop...
  15. Laminator Purchase Checklist

At $120/hr shop time, you've won yourself a beer, and the waistcoat to go with the t-shirt
  16. Laminator Purchase Checklist

Then we'll both be scratching for the beginning of the masking tape roll...
  17. Laminator Purchase Checklist

Roll of masking tape on the mandrel, lights inside, and voodoo loading. Almost make me wish for an HP printer, just for the 3' of media used for loading on the take up reel.
  18. Need Help Banner stand

We used to use similar, and would trim off the old one a couple of inches from the top. Then banner tape the new one, so the old was at the back, and hidden.
  19. Laminating prints onto correx

Thank you queen of the Iceni! Feels like it makes sense, but before ordering a quarter (metric) tonne of fluted polyprop, good to have some eyes on.
