  1. Need some help from the print masters!

Sorry if you mentioned this - but does this happen on any other media? I tried a different roll of the same media and it does it on that as well. I've tried 4 profiles, I think, by now. Keeping in mind, it's something we print on regularly and we haven't changed any settings. You're sure that...
  2. Need some help from the print masters!

When I print any test prints or ink swatches for profiling, when the black prints in cyan blocks (think black lines to separate the blocks), the black bleeds all into the cyan. However, on the lighter cyan, the black lines are really sharp. Any ideas? I replaced a black printhead last night but...
  3. Need some help from the print masters!

You know those days when nothing goes the way you planned? Well, that's today. Okay, the past 5 days :) I have a repeat job, saved as a PDF out of Illustrator about 6 months ago. I grab the PDF, drop it in Onyx, print it, it looks bad, printing on IJ-40. Last time I printed, I think it was on...
  4. Is there a way to clean this vector file up?

Thanks for the suggestions to everyone, d fleming took the file and spent almost no time at all on it in Signlab and emailed it back to me. I think he said it took 30 seconds. Thanks Dave! I appreciate the help!
  5. Should I charge more than $29 for this sidewalk sign?

Your crossed out prices are $69 for the sign, then you mark it down to $29? Sounds like you already know what the price "should" be. If anyone doesn't understand what "Race to the bottom" means, here it is in action. A perfectly good market, getting ready to be wiped out for everyone in that...
  6. Is there a way to clean this vector file up?

Yeah, that doesn't work, it's too many hidden things used to draw it. I saved it as a tiff, traced it using black and white, and it came out decent. Not as clean as I'd like, but I'm not a "tracing" wizard, so I still don't have that dialed in to get the best results. Thanks for the help so...
  7. Is there a way to clean this vector file up?

I have a couple of files on the deck right now, customer supplied vector, and they are a real mess. I need them to stay vector but some changes need to be made (there is too much "construction" geometry behind the scenes) but I'm struggling to figure out how to do that. I thought it would be a...

  9. What would YOU do with the money?

I'm not suggesting one model is better than the other. I think that's a call each business owner has to make on their own. All I'm saying is that over time, computers become obsolete. XP is not supported by the people that created it. I would think the same would be true for things like CS2...
  10. What would YOU do with the money?

True to a point, but as in our case, it's a legacy motherboard that's the issue, so the hardware/software combination is a one, two punch for that machine. Time to bite the bullet and get something current!
  11. What would YOU do with the money?

Gotcha, that was exactly my point. You can run almost anything on legacy machine with legacy software, but software gets obsolete when new technology comes out, that's just a fact of life, personal, and business. My first smart phone doesn't work on 4G. That's just life in the technology world.
  12. What would YOU do with the money?

Then maybe you can explain to me why we have a rotary engraving machine that died last week with no way to fix it, unless we spend $6,000 to upgrade it. The system uses a ISA card and ISA hasn't been in computers for 15 years. Sure, there are specialty places that make motherboards with them in...
  13. What would YOU do with the money?

Suz, with all due respect, you can't expect to buy software in 2005 and expect it to run in 2015. Computers and software don't work like that. Hardware changes and you end up with legacy products, which companies stop supporting. You can't use Power PC based software on Apple's on the latest...
  14. What would YOU do with the money?

Guys, you do NOT have to be hooked to the internet to use "the cloud". I have Adobe CC which is "Cloud based", and I can take my laptop, not hooked to the internet anywhere I want and use it any time I want. The only thing is does is have a cloud based dongle, so to speak, which checks once a...
  15. What would YOU do with the money?

So far, you do in the Adobe package. And just for the record "the cloud" doesn't "go down" and stop you from working unless you're storing all your files there. I don't think I use any of the "Cloud" services, but I do have the subscription.
  16. Sign Shop on CNBC's "The Profit"

I thought it showed how brilliant Marcus is. He saw through all of the crap and walked. What's a real shame is how many people, members of this forum, that could have knocked that out of the park and inked a great deal and go on to do amazing things, but never got the opportunity.
  17. Sign Shop on CNBC's "The Profit"

What I do think is this is a sign forum with people in all states with various levels of skills and talents, not the Huffington Post comment section.

  20. Question about Rapidtac II

You want to make sure it doesn't have perfumes or silicone in it, amongst other things. In general, you don't want to use a "glass cleaner" product. I'm sure someone makes something that works well, but most of them shouldn't be used for doing what you are trying to do. The MSDS on that...
