  1. Creative Cloud Issues 11-19-2014

I don't know if it's still going on, but I heard there was a a pretty severe outage on a major carriers line. Without knowing where that server is trying to connect to, it's hard to know. I'm sure they have them scattered all over the world, so checking for outages in the USA might not show it...
  2. Repairing damaged laminate?

They are happy to do whatever we suggest, including printing another panel if needed. I just picked up some edge sealer, we'll try that, if it doesn't make them happy, then we'll reprint it and they'll pay for it, no issues.
  3. Repairing damaged laminate?

Thanks! Would I do anything to smooth out the raised edge around it before doing that?
  4. Repairing damaged laminate?

I have a customer that we wrapped a vehicle for and they came by to show some minor damage on their door. Apparently they opened the door with something in the way and the door hit one of those spots in it's hinge where it just pops to the next notch and it hit something. I don't know what, but...
  5. Webbing Laminator....What's your method?

  6. Webbing Laminator....What's your method?

There are a number of tools on the market that do that. Our's are from Olfa, but I know others are out there.
  7. How to get it through a clients head that their artwork is useless!!!!!!

That's the issue I've had too. Nothing like getting an eps file, opening it, only to find the JPEG of the logo :) Honestly, some times it's just easier to vectorize it from scratch and be done with it. Messing around with customers and trying to explain it is time wasted, and we can easily spend...
  8. Cannot find a tech to work on my HPL26500--PLEASE HELP!

Just start posting here. Tell us where you are in the process and let's get you up and running. It'll happen faster and you'll learn a lot about it in the process! To recap, you have power on it, you've run the self tests? Are Onyx and Flexi installed? Which versions of those? Onyx Postershop...
  9. 18 Minutes well spent....

Thanks for pointing that out Snydo, I saw they were posted very recently on isigntube, but when you said you saw it months ago, I popped over to youtube and saw he loaded that and the Jameson Whiskey one there some time ago. I'll be following him over there now. I love his work. Probably one of...
  10. 18 Minutes well spent....

There's a couple new videos loaded from Dave Smith. Want a treat? Check out this one. LOVED the round sign. Absolutely stunning. Make sure to maximize it. http://www.isigntube.com/video/1910/The-Making-of-John-Mayers-Born--Raised-Artwork
  11. Are we green yet?

I don't trust or distrust any of them. I said I didn't know one way or the other. All I did was mention what the Scientist that created The Weather Channel said. I don't think mentioning information that people can research on their own and make up their own minds should label me as anything...
  12. Are we green yet?

You do realize that there is a list or petition with 30,000 scientists signatures on it that say there's no such thing, right? I will add that I have no idea. I'm not a scientist.
  13. Communication, a dying talent?

Fresh off the press.... Phone rings- "Hi, it's been a while since we spoke, we need a sign" Okay, what can you tell me about it? What size is it? What's it made from? What's it going to look like? (keeping in mind, this is a designer we've worked with in the past) "Well, I'm not sure the...
  14. Sign Shop Gremlins [Keeping track of tools?]

Tape measures and knives. Two things I can't stop buying because of those gremlins. I suspect when we move, we'll find about 20 tapes measures and 40 knives.
  15. Has anyone leased a domain before?

Interesting! I had no idea so many companies didn't own their own domain name. My question to you, is would you lease a domain name from an individual for a business you were building?
  16. Has anyone leased a domain before?

Valid points, but the difference is that if you are leasing a building and running you business and your landlord decides to sell the building for more money, raise your rent, or anything, then you have the ability to pack up your stuff and move to another location. When you lease a domain...
  17. Has anyone leased a domain before?

But isn't the end result the same thing? If you lease a domain from him, then he has 100% control over shutting your site down with no notice. He may be a great guy and never do that, but he certainly has the ability to do it, which is why I'd never "lease" a website from anyone. If my business...
  18. Has anyone leased a domain before?

I worked for a $50 million dollar company years ago. They had IT contractors in all the time for special projects. One of them was to setup a new division of the business. The IT contractor registered the domain name for the company. He used his information. He came back about a year later and...
  19. Communication, a dying talent?

They are right up there with the "I'm in a bind, if there's anything at all you can do to help me, I would appreciate it. I'm sorry for such short notice", so you move things around, knock it out, call them, leave messages and email them that it's ready (because they were in a bind and needed it...
  20. Communication, a dying talent?

I've come to that same conclusion :) Any time someone says "No Hurry", I start adding on rush charges :) In our cases, they tend to say "No hurry, any time within the next two weeks is fine", and then before they get to the first stoplight after leaving our business, they call and want to know...
