  1. Communication, a dying talent?

I know we all deal with these things weekly, if not daily, but this latest one was so puzzling to me I thought I'd share it. Kid brings in a picture frame and wants something engraved on the frame. It's work we do not normally do, but more often than not, we take these jobs mostly because they...
  2. HP L360 for small letters

We don't have the 360, but have printed 6pt fonts on the latex machines a number of times.
  3. Embossed elevator sign?

This is the company, I can't remember the user's name here that owns it. http://www.truxes.com/store/pc/viewCategories.asp?idCategory=58 Edit - Ditchmiester!
  4. Embossed elevator sign?

There's someone on this forum that makes those. Who was it? Anyone remember? They made a lot of elevator signs and things to do with fire evacuation signs.
  5. Will an HP Latex printer actually print yellow?

dypinc, one of the most interesting seminars I have taken was the one from X-Rite. I could have listened to that guy talk for a week. After attending that one, and the others I have attended, I'm convinced very few people in this business understand color. He was explaining how to get rich...
  6. Will an HP Latex printer actually print yellow?

Sightline, when I said it doesn't do LAB, what I was referring to was a comment by the X-Rite people about it, and I think, and I'm only guessing, is his reference was that it's not exporting LAB colors, it's either RGB or CMYK. That's all way over my head, that's why I asked the questions I did...
  7. Will an HP Latex printer actually print yellow?

Is this something different than you're talking about? It's the ability to get LAB values from a spectrophotometer under the "Swatch" area.
  8. SGIA - Anyone find any cool new Tools, Techniques, or Technology

I think everyone that went either stayed, or can't remember going :) Anything eye catching there? I was fascinated by the giant flatbeds running conveyor systems when I went to ISA earlier in the year. If anyone went to both the ISA and SGIA, I'd like to hear the differences in shows? We'll...
  9. Will an HP Latex printer actually print yellow?

dypinc, this might be a post that comes across wrong, so I want to try and preface it as much as I can so it doesn't. I'm asking this because I don't know and I'm trying to learn, not because I'm trying to suggest you are doing something wrong, so please take it that way. Why are you trying to...
  10. sandblast resist

Check out the thicknesses of the resist you are looking at. Most are thicker than 11mil.
  11. sandblast resist

We are using a Summa with very good results.
  12. New owner means NEW EQUIPMENT! Need some advice...

Tangential means the knife blade actually rotates based on the shapes being cut. It will get to the end of a cut, lift up, the blade rotates, then it goes back into the cut. You can cut thick stuff with it. The T series are beasts. I cut .030" thick rubber sandblast mask on ours a good bit of...
  13. Editing bitmap - need help

I guess i'm imagining the tools under "Bitmap" that says "3d", "Perspective" and allows you to put a perspective on a bitmap. Or in Photopaint, where it allows the same thing. I'm not suggesting you should use one over the other. Use the one that works for you, but don't tell people it can't...
  14. Editing bitmap - need help

How's it half the job? In both, you have to distort the image, in both, you have to create a mask of some sort to get it done. Both will do it complete, not half way. In both, you end up with the same thing. I'm not sure how that's half the job.
  15. Editing bitmap - need help

True, but I would hope he would know he can't take a flat image and clip it into a perspective view. You'd have to distort the image you are going to clip. Either program, you still need to distort the image to the angle of the table before applying the mask in photoshop or the powerclip in corel.
  16. Editing bitmap - need help

You don't need to, he had the photos. He just needed to clip it. Simple- 1) Using the pen tool, create the 4 points of the table top (diamond shape). 2) Place the vector table top shape over the image you want on the table top. 3) Powerclip the image using the table top shape. 4) Drag power...
  17. How young is too young

Congratulations! Sleep is way overrated anyway :)
  18. Editing bitmap - need help

It's called power clipping in Corel. It's about the same amount of time as your PS venture.
  19. Will an HP Latex printer actually print yellow?

Onyx has nothing to do with whether or not you can hit some colors. If a color is out of gamut, then it's out of gamut. Pantone is NOT a chart made of all the colors CMYK printers can print, it's a reference tool to be used to try and get consistent colors. If a color cannot be reproduced on a...
  20. Will an HP Latex printer actually print yellow?

There's nothing wrong with Onyx. Pat, you need the Bridge version of the pantone chart. It looks to me like you're trying to hit a color that's not possible. In Onyx there's a swatch tool that works awesome. Watch this video and try that, and you can get a bunch of yellow swatches printed out...
