  1. Question about Rapidtac II

Windex would not be fine for cleaning a window you are about to apply graphics to. RapidTac products are removing the things Windex puts on the window. There are all sorts of additives in Windex, things that aren't desirable to have a good bond.
  2. virus checking software?

Techman, what do you think about eset's NOD32? It used to be really good, but I haven't used it lately (switched over to Mac a few years ago), but it always seemed like it wasn't very intrusive.
  3. Sign Shop on CNBC's "The Profit"

If you've never been to where that guy is operating, it's hard to imagine. It's literally 10's of thousands of signs down there within 5 miles of him.
  4. China Banner Welder

I just saw the banner ad for that one as well, listing at $1295. They are also supporting this site through advertising on it, so it might be a win/win. Edit, OP posted he didn't like that style at the same time I was posting this.
  5. Ink scratches off easily L360

I don't think the IJ180 profile is going to work on that machine for that. Even for the older machines, the profile for the reflective is very different than IJ-180, best I can tell. On 3M's site, they don't have a profile for it (as you probably already know), and on HP's site, it's not...
  6. Ink scratches off easily L360

Can't help with the issue, but can you put a sheet of the release liner that's left over between the pieces to keep them from getting scratched when they are heading out to be installed? A 2 week life span is pretty short, it basically just has to get to the job, it sounds like. What profile...
  7. How much per letter?!?

Man, you guys are on fire today :)
  8. Sign Shop on CNBC's "The Profit"

The guy had some impressive growth numbers for 3 years in business. What was it, like $105K the first year, then $300+K the next year, and headed to $700K that year? That's pretty strong numbers, growth wise. He had a couple mistakes, one was moving from New York to South Carolina and keeping...
  9. Brushed metal film without "orange peel" look

Correction, I think it mounted to a piece of ABS not PVC.
  10. Brushed metal film without "orange peel" look

No, no Plaskolite :) It's chrome vinyl laminated to a piece of 1/4" PVC that's smooth. The guy told me that the plant does it all themselves, I think in North Carolina. I suspect they have brushed film too. It seemed their place in the market was making special things like this. It was Curbell...
  11. Brushed metal film without "orange peel" look

Here's the sample piece I spoke about. The little bit of "texture" you might be able to see it just adhesive from the protective plastic. I just peeled it up and took the photo, I didn't clean it. I've not seen any "self application" vinyl ever get this smooth. Maybe it's doable, but I haven't...
  12. Brushed metal film without "orange peel" look

I didn't find that to be the solution.
  13. Embroidery on Driver's Uniform

I suspect if you're on fire to a point where it's breaching the holes in the patch sewed on, you've got a much bigger problem on your hands at that moment.
  14. Bullets, Bullets, Bullets....

Techman, sorry to say, I think you're wrong on this one. A few whois look ups and a couple google searches and he's easy to find. Apparently he's a programmer and does SEO, meaning here's here for one reason, to post his sites on here to get linked to this site because it gets so many hits...
  15. Black Friday Deals

Best Buy has a 128 GB flash drive for $27, online as well. Perfect Photo Suite is also on sale if you need to enlarge photos.
  16. Brushed metal film without "orange peel" look

It's more to it than that. I took my stuff to a local guy with a hot laminator and it didn't give any different results. I just couldn't replicate that smooth look. I'll find the sample and take a photo and post it. I saw it a couple weeks ago during a clean up. Let me see if I can figure out...
  17. Brushed metal film without "orange peel" look

A couple years ago I had a customer bring in some acrylic with a chrome on it that was slick as glass. I ordered 3 or 4 different chromes and tried to replicate it and couldn't. It all had that same orange peel on it shown in that photo. A plastic supplier came in and i was in the middle of...
  18. Black Friday Deals

Don't know that it's Black Friday related, but Fellers has that Master Appliance Pro heat gun on sale until the end of the month, I think. I picked one up a couple days ago. :loveya: I know they aren't cheap, but man, that thing is the cat's meow. I think they have about 5 or 6 different heat...
  19. 3M Envision 480cv3

I know this is an older thread, but I wanted to see if anyone else had given the IJ480 a test spin yet? I printed on a sample roll and played around with it a little. It seems very different than IJ180 to me. It feels stiffer and almost tough. I kept snapped off my knife to expose new edges and...
  20. learn Photoshop

I'm not sure I'd agree with that. Some of the most amazing graphics I've ever seen were created in photoshop, from scratch. I've had the same issues learning Photoshop. It's full of tools to create things, but the tutorials on Lynda are most focused around photo editing, not creating things...
