  1. Question gradient

Vector gradients can be very tricky when imported into any program other than the one that it was created in. I always merge gradients into a bitmap before printing anything large or small then I send a PDF for printing all jobs in or out of house. If you save the original version in a separate...
  2. New Shop (flooring)

I used epoxy with flake it works great! But watch out for hot tires, they can sometime lift the epoxy off the floor after they sit for a while.
  3. Curious how you deal with this type of job

Quote him with weeding accounted for and pad it a bit so if they still want it then it's worth doing, and then quote one or two easier to do options. Sometimes you can steer a client to do what you want by appealing to their frugal side!
  4. clear & translucent vinyl installed- squeegee marks

Those should go away but without being on site I can't say for sure, maybe give those a week or so for the glue to set up and it will probably look fine. Unless of course a couple weeks have already passed? It's like a curved rear car window with perf, it looks horrible right after installation...
  5. Need Help If Avery cast vinyl gets wet, will adhesive still work when it dries?

Yes should be fine once dry, I have had masked pieces get wet, then the backing paper could not be removed as it was sticking to the glue. I dried it out overnight and it was fine, paper was a bit wrinkled but it came off clean and the decals stuck no problem.
  6. Another Perf Thread

Unlaminated perf for short term windows, laminate everything else and edge tape. I keep corners straight, just overlap, don't bend and stretch. Also most of the cheap perf vinyls do not stick consistently in my opinion.
  7. Things that make you go hmmm - Corel Conspiracy Theory

While I will accept poor behaviour from a corporation as probable, I am on Corel x5 and windows 10, no issues with Corel, but don't get me started on Win10. Corel doesn't like poorly prepared pdf's, if the designer knows what they are doing they can give you a pdf that will work in any program...
  8. Somebody can convert to vector

I have to agree with some above, that would be 10 mins to redraw, 60 mins to teach someone how to draw it.
  9. Difficulty Adhering after Rapid Remover

I have been using Rapid Remove for 20 years, wouldn't be without it. I use it on glass all the time, of course as mentioned already when cleaned properly adhesion is fine. One thing I will point out is to avoid Windex, most regular glass cleaners contain silicone to avoid streaks, this can...
  10. Need Help Window Perforated on window

If you tuck the bottom edge 1/4 inch below the rubber window seal and tape your edges it should be fine, 3M will not warrantee perf on moving windows. I let my client know I will fix issues but not warrantee replacement vinyl. I have a car out there with perf on moving windows and taped edges...
  11. Question question about Font organazation

I have about 40,000 fonts, I just use the Bitsream Font Navigator that comes free with Corel, it's not brilliant but the price was right! A good font program is worth it though, they temporarily load the fonts until you restart your computer, this helps as installing too many fonts in your...
  12. Need Help Looking for stock sport photos

    Try this. https://www.gettyimages.ca/photos/washington-capitals-bench?family=editorial&phrase=washington%20capitals%20bench&sort=mostpopular.
  13. Prepping for Installs

Yes I agree tough to nail down, it all depends on how well prepped you are for these jobs. But if you have an organised shop, even loading tools and equipment in an empty van should take 5 to 15 mins at most, more if there is a big sign to load too, but if someone is taking much longer than...
  14. Need Help Window perf

To install laminated perf I just get up on the ladder no need to measure, peel the backing about a foot to 18 inches down and fold to a loose crease, then I line up the top of the square graphic to the top of the glass and tack each side, and tack up the middle in case of sag. The backing paper...
  15. Question Large graphic - help!

Yes but they are for windows, from inside you get a dark line in the graphics, sometimes you don't have a choice, but the client needs to know before the graphics go up.
  16. Question Large graphic - help!

yes to both above, clear it with the client, and 1/4" overlap. I do outsource the occasional oversized cut to another sign shop, you could one piece that with white 60" vinyl.
  17. Seal Ultra 62 C Misalignment

I don't know of a solution sorry, we struggled for days trying to make it work. Ours was out just a tiny bit, so the creasing wasn't showing up until about 8 to 10 feet along, do you still have your old laminator?
  18. Seal Ultra 62 C Misalignment

We had the same issue, though not as pronounced, years ago in an old shop I worked for, with a brand new Seal. It was misaligned rollers and they ended up replacing the whole machine with a new one, and upgraded it with large production kit!
  19. Hello from Canada

A big hey, from Vancouver Island!
