  1. At A Crossroad, To Keep Going or Call It A Day?

One thing I did when first starting up with vehicles was to offer on site installation, in the winter you can offer to install in the clients garage or shop, in the summer I have done installs on the side of the street and in driveways. I even installed for a house inspector at the house he was...
  2. At A Crossroad, To Keep Going or Call It A Day?

I have been working out of my house for 11 years and am so glad I did due to the current state of the world. One major factor in starting my business though was that I operate in a small city that has poor sign shops for the most part, so there was room for me to open up, although in a city of...
  3. Ideal portable table to take on install sites.

I have folding heavy duty sawhorses, you can bring whatever size table top up to 4x8, and they hold about 1500lbs each so you can stand on your table too, in a pinch.
  4. This font is horrible my brain hurts

Like everything on CNN it's more fear porn, that font is scary!
  5. What is this material?

I used to make signs up at Lake Louise and one thing for sure, make your signs bombproof! I would replace with that foam with minimum 6mm aluminum panel, or even solid aluminum if you want any lifespan. We used to deal with snowplows for our road signs, and they can punish almost any material.
  6. Rant Why does this always happen...................... ??

The Chinese government has instructed it's citizens to stock up on food, they have been told they need up to a year of supplies, OFFICIALLY! Your drive thru's are likely to be a luxury few will be able to use soon.
  7. Alternative to banners in a school gym?

I would try to sell them on the reusability of banners, as opposed to foam board, but that is probably the best option for ease of installation, maybe banner with no grommets?
  8. shipping issues

So to sum up, it will get worse before it gets better, every link the the chain is rusting so make sure your chain is as short as possible, not easy for us sign makers.
  9. This partial trailer wrap could be a little challenging

I did this office front wrap using individual printed strips for the mullions. I just used bleed from the surrounding image, there is duplicated portions, but gives a more wrapped look, but they paid for this look too, it was for a high rise that got cancelled due to the Pandemic.
  10. Window Graphics Failing

Sounds like the window washers started the edges lifting, kept doing the windows the same way, then the edges lifted enough for the heat to complete the job. I do let clients know to never use squeegees to clean graphics, covers my ass if the cleaners get too aggressive!
  11. Bezos Flight

Mr. Bezos has donated 200 million to combat climate change, he had spent 5.5 billion on going into space. He has plans to use space tourism (100 million in sales so far, not counting the 28 million for the 18 year old) to fund space mining, with possible profits in the 100's of trillions. That...
  12. What the heck is going on with the Olympics?

These Olympics will be a gong show, the sports events will not be the biggest story of these games I predict.
  13. Bezos Flight

I just wonder if it was deliberate making that rocket look like a big dick, Richard I mean, lol.
  14. Vinyl Roll Storage

I have very limited space for anything, I got this idea from Sign craft Magazine many years ago, would work for larger rolls too, you would just need 60" hardboard.
  15. Satin finish on trailer...will this work?

Put painters masking tape, two strips wide on the fender edges close the the trailer wall, place your vinyl into position at the top portion, then drape down to the top of the fender. I cut while the backing paper is still on starting from the middle of the fender and work away from that...
  16. Weird problem with Window Perf

Second that, I had this happen, but I caught it before I left the install so was able to pull back enough to dig it out before the glue set up.
  17. Production file release for "mock-ups"

I worked for a graphic design firm, where we had this come up, and I have dealt with it a few times myself, standard practice for source vector files is triple the design fee. Explain to the client the original design charges do not include the legal rights to the files, and that is what the fee...
  18. Viable laminator sled ideas?

I use coro, just use it over and over until it gets too thick with laminate, then cut another piece.
  19. Best technique or program to convert CMYK to RGB or vice versa

I am a small home based shop, but I have over 20 years printing experience. I have worked at a graphic design firm with 40 plus people and was dealing with multiple print jobs in and out of house very day. I outsource all of my current printing, as I just have a 24" plotter and I can tell you it...
  20. Wall Mural vinyl recommendation

I use IJ-40 easier for me to install.
