  1. Roland and Latex

Installation Yep, they do have 5 year heads & all warranties though on my XC540s, not sure about the newer models. This covers any parts (we have had a number of heads replaced) but we've still got to pay for servicing labour and travel. I just sold our 7 year old XC540 and it's still motoring...
  2. Shopvox experience

Thanks Kevin that'd be great. I haven't worried too much about it while the migration pathway was being sorted. I'll get in contact with you soon.
  3. Shopvox experience

I'm interested in moving across even though our cost will double. All the webinars have been at 3am Australian time though so I haven't had a close look.
  4. Roland and Latex

Plenty of bias of course and they're comparing costs between the highest HP model and the lowest Roland models. I've been running Rolands for 8 years (still have one XC540) and an L26500/L260 for 3 years. RIP SOFTWARE - We run Solvent, Latex & UV so Versaworks is useless anyway. FlexiPrint...
  5. HP26500 - warrior media jam, advice?

Damn, what a mess! The only vinyl I have problems with is Avery 1005, the pinch rollers always want to peel back the vinyl. I have to remember to lift the blue handle as soon as the sensor in the chute detects it being loaded (or just do a manual load).
  6. 3M pricing policy strikes again

How do you mean? We're printing on 1005 with our HP L260 daily no problem (aside from the occasional contaminated roll that I've come to expect from all cast vinyl suppliers).
  7. Substrate Cutter

That mirrors my experience Snook, although ours is Keencut brand. Now it's only used for corflutes and pvc and we use a basic treadle guillotine for all our ACP (which also has the bonus of cutting other sheet metals). I also never liked how the vertical cutting wheels creates a curve in the off...
  8. 110v latex printers?

Is it really worth buying a lesser machine just to save getting an electrician out?
  9. Forms VS Electronic

Approval through Signvox is our preferred method, but failing that (eg. if their server blocks SV emails) we accept an email.
  10. Edge lit sponsor wall

That looks great! Would you mind putting up some non-illuminated and close up pics so we can appreciate the construction?
  11. LED Acrylic Letters

We've done plenty of larger illuminated channel letters but I haven't tried any of this style before. Now of course I need to quickly quote one before I've had time to do any experimenting. What minimum acrylic thickness and routering depth is ideal to diffuse the light and prevent hotspots? My...

  13. Illustrator / Preflight colours don't match!

That's what the RIP is there to do, match the printer's output with the result you're expecting. Just because your file says 30% K, doesn't mean that the printhead will output 30% of it's maximum. Linearisation dictates how much it needs to output to achieve a smooth gradient from nothing to...
  14. Clear vinyl issues?

All optically clear vinyls are going to be expensive.
  15. will Printed Matte vinyl....laminate ok?

Ours gets a gloss laminate 99% of the time. I do stock a bit of Arlon 4500G if for some reason we want an unlaminated gloss finish or are doing a second surface print by reverse printing on laminate and backing up in white.
  16. will Printed Matte vinyl....laminate ok?

Ditto, our most used vinyl is Avery 2923 matte as it prints so well.
  17. Sliding miter saw for cutting extrusions

I've had that one for a few years and it's still going strong.
  18. 2015 Poll on sign estimating/production software

I did a while back. I looked through the site for about 10 minutes and quickly realised that it didn't have 1/4 the functionality of Signvox.
  19. Work Order / Job Flow Software or Process, what do you do?

Do you have all of your available materials entered into Signvox? In my shop the materials get spec'd up front in the quote and the printer simply selects whatever material has been spec'd. I've got 27 different vinyls, 11 laminates and 45 substrates on my list so there's never any confusion...
  20. Work Order / Job Flow Software or Process, what do you do?

I've considered the same problem and I think processing time is just an unfortunate downside of having a larger shop. Lots of information needs to be communicated about lots of jobs to lots of people. In a small shop, you can keep a lot of the detail in your head as it's probably you that will...
