  1. Possible pump issue

My assistant texted me that our Arizona 318GL is timing out on filling the reservoir and every job he's tried is failing. I've never had this problem before but it sounds like the ink pump isn't working properly. Is there any easy way to test the pump, or will I have to call a service tech? I...
  2. Oce Arizona Ink Supplier And/Or Alternative

I had the exact same problem. My supplier stopped carrying Oce inks, but Canon set me up in their online ordering system and I order my ink directly from them. Here's the link I use....you'll have to get an account but I use this all the time and it works great for me. Login I've never...
  3. CNC stud marks

I just use an old swivel knife with a worn out blade in it and let the knife basically just score the aluminum slightly.
  4. New to industry: Need clarification on print/cut machine advice from Roland dealer.

I used a 54" Versacamm at my old shop, and I have to say that it worked really well for us. It's also very useful in that it will plot as well as print. I would definitely recommend a Versacamm, and as SignMeUpGraphics said, it's almost always better to go bigger. GIves you more flexibility.
  5. Looking for Dodge Challenger RT Stripes

    knifeless tape is great stuff.
  6. Looking for Dodge Challenger RT Stripes

For the graphics themselves, a dealership is probably your best bet. A friend of a coworker just had his SRT repainted and the body shop just bought the decals from a Dodge dealer. For a digital file, not sure. Somebody out there has probably gone to the trouble of replicating them but that's...
  7. Help with choosing equipment

We use our Oce Arizona for real estate signs on coroplast. We just print 10 at a time on 4' x 8' sheets and then slice them apart.
  8. New Guy The 50-year-old Startup

Hello! My situation is similar as well. I have 20 years of sign experience, and I signed on with a different shop after almost 18 years at the first one. New place (about 40 years old) has a lot of the same issues....outdated equipment, little to no space to work and a young and largely...
  9. Canon/Oce Inks

Apparently it's all in who you talk to. I called the number on the invoice for returns instead of my sales rep and they seemed to think it wouldn't be an issue. I may have to eat the cost of the two bags that were opened but I'm ok with that. Just waiting to hear back from Canon.
  10. Canon/Oce Inks

It was our mistake, the person who got the email asking what colors we needed in IJC257 didn't know we use IJC256 (this person works in the front office, and has no experience with the printers) so they just told them we needed all 5 colors. I told Canon this, and they still said that they...
  11. Canon/Oce Inks

Does anybody know of a place that will buy back Canon/Oce Ink bags? Canon sent me five bags of IJC257 instead of IJC256 and won't let me exchange them since they are considered hazardous. I don't want to have to re-profile my printer for one bag change and then have to do it again later.
  12. Ugh....came Out Ok But I Hate Corrugated Trailers!

Spent most of last weekend getting this thing done. I'm happy with it for the most part but man I hope I don't see another one anytime soon.
  13. Electronic Message Signs

IMO Watchfire is about as good as they get. They are usually more expensive but they have very versatile user friendly software and are easy to work on. Daktronics are good too but I just like WF's software so much more.
  14. Question Wraping A Fiberglass U-haul Truck

Looks like a really clean cut around it but you never know. I did a box truck a couple years ago that had a few of these, and they were the huge ones, like 1 1/4" diameter. I ended up using a lot of 3M Primer 94 and heat gunning to get them to stick and it worked. I drive past the truck often...
  15. Question Perforated Window Film For The Unexperienced

Eco Sol is fine on perf film. I used to print on it all the time with a Roland VP540i at my old shop. We didn't laminate most perfs unless they were going to be up for an extended period of time. The customer we did them for the most usually switched them every 90 days or so so we didn't bother.
  16. Coreldraw X8 Crashing At Launch Win10 Pro

I just upgraded to X8 last month. Haven't had any issues so far. I had X5 which was crashing all the time. Thanks for posting, I will keep an eye out for this.
  17. Who Sells Corrogated With The Flutes Going Along The 48"?

I got some corrugated plastic in recently that was fluted on the 48" side. I didn't order it myself but it caught my attention for that very reason. I'll see if I can find out where it came from. Usually we get ours from Grimco.
  18. Best Led Vendors

For gas pricers, Watchfire and Daktronics are the best. I personally like Watchfire a little better from a software standpoint but both are good.
  19. Large Cutting Mat

I got a 5' x 12' Rhino from Speedpress, I know they can be ordered larger.
  20. Hello From Wichita, Ks!

I've lurked here for years whenever I had questions. Figured it was about time I joined so I can contribute. Long story short, I've been in the sign business since I was 19, just turned 39. I worked for 17 years at George Lay Signs in Wichita, KS and have been with Ron's Sign Co. (also in...
