  1. Banding On the Canon 8400s

Assuming that you've checked the file at 100% in PS, and that is not present, it's not the file resolution. Assuming the paper travel direction is L>R or R>L, almost certainly the media config (though have a look at the nozzle check with a loupe in regular and service mode). If you're using a...
  2. Discussion Sweet 16

Printed and (hand) cut a series of life size Mick Jaggers on Kapamount. Really glad it wasn't Brian May. Colleagues referred to them as Ickle Micks.
  3. Roland SC-500 icc profiles for Flexi. Can anyone help?

44" Canon, 24" Epson (running eight shades of black for printing digital negatives) and dinky little Epson D-Lab. All Aqueous. Canon runs everything from bond paper to silly expensive fine art materials, as well as SAV and scrim banner. We specialise in galleries, artists and photographers...
  4. Roland SC-500 icc profiles for Flexi. Can anyone help?

    Down in sunny Brixton.
  5. 16' In-ground Road Sign

Is there another kind? I'm sure there is, but what kind of realtor* do they use? * see lawyer, insurance agent, used vehicle vendor...
  6. Roland SC-500 icc profiles for Flexi. Can anyone help?

Glad it's getting there. Where abouts UK are you based?
  7. Roland SC-500 icc profiles for Flexi. Can anyone help?

That's the image, and do read the notes, they help you see what you are looking at. Also quite useful to check that your monitor isn't showing you false promises.
  8. I didn't believe the manufacturer

It was the Drytac Facemount - still the best optically clear that I've found. We don't use much of it these days, as it has become monstrously expensive. Our main area of business is photographic, and we're seeing a big rise in film usage, particularly with the younger photographers. It seems...
  9. I didn't believe the manufacturer

Around a decade ago we we had shortages and price hikes in optically clear mounting film. Manufacturer's rep said it was down to the increase in production of flat screen televisions; I thought BS. If you've shot film, and wondered how it was made, this (LONG) video may be interesting. Of...
  10. what happened?

Every now and then, the EFI rip will use whatever god awful font was last (or one before last) used in illustrator, only for the job info footer ticket. Some fonts really look like $4!t at 6pt. But this is driven from a mac, so can't be badoutsideforces.
  11. One up on Gino

College I went to, there were staff toilets adjacent to the student toilets. On the wall of one student stall the grafitti developed over time: Those who can do Those who can't teach Those who can't teach lecture Those who can't lecture, lecture at XXXXXXXX The janitors knew the staff never...
  12. Anyone know of any Environmentally friendly print or cad cut vinyls out there?

At least the stone was carried down the mountain. I'm seeing a lot of requests for green materials, have various coloured vinyls that aren't PVC, and won't emit chlorine when incinerated. Elliot will be flying in to confirm that they look OK. I'm on the green mid of the spectrum, want to leave...
  13. Suggestions Looking for flat bed printer suggestions

They've been running an 80K machine for a fair few years, so I figure back outsourcing is long and gone, and they're showing a good attitude :)
  14. Need Help Best solution for printing art for screens?

That looks like a pretty light weight machine. Contact John or Cathy at InkJetMall https://shop.inkjetmall.com/UV45. They've just changed their distribution supplier, but seem to be running smoothly. They can tell you what machines will take their inks, no BS, honest knowledgable answers. I...
  15. Discussion Pricing your print/jobs/installs >>MEGA Thread<<.

Pauly, thank you. When I started at my current place (15 years ago), everything was done on Excel sheets, or printed sheets, with (kid you not) red ledger books. Quotes and invoices written from scratch (occasionaly from template), and calculators on every desk. I moved here from a commercial...
  16. A "clean" new Serif font

When we go beyond the U axis, do we get i & j? I rather like this font, and it is subtly cheaper than H Now.
  17. Meeting with corporate buyers

You've got pictures - make a portfolio. Something like this is sometimes better than a binder https://www.amazon.com/Print-File-Clamshell-Portfolio-11-25x14-25x2/dp/B0010CMXZ2 for a couple of reasons. You can throw in new prints whenever you feel like it. If you're having a meeting at your...
  18. Design fees and payment upfront

Years ago, I managed a photographic studio - advertising, product, designers work. Had one client, an ad agency around the corner, based in an old bank. They had a guy who I'll call Big Al. Used to do all the briefs for shoots as sketches, or water colours, or biro scribbles. The old school...
  19. Convoy Banners

Just started making a few banners for a gallery, and it is kinda fun. Dumb question: assuming you're not fitting them, what instructions do you give the customer on fixing them? I can just imagine the havoc of a poorly fitted banner, laden with chain descending from a highway bridge, heading...
  20. recommendation for book c.oth cover printing

You could try something like canvastex - not going to get you that lovely debossed text, but not far off in appearance. UV protection, no ink migration and reasonably scuff resistant. I don't know whether it, or similar will work with other than aqueous inks.
