well, I went ahead and bought it (picked it up for 1K), it's an HP, 600dpi color scanner with touch screen computer controller. It's a 42" with a stand, looks like a decent unit. Ran a couple things through it, and imported into Flexi (350mb) for a 36"x40" print. Not sure how often I'll use...

I found what seems to be a good buy on a local 42" HP color scanner with a stand alone controller. Do any of you have or use large format scanners? My problem here is, that I want to buy it, because it seems like a good deal, but I'm not sure how often I would use it... Any ideas for using...

yeah, you can use it on both computers, just one at a time however.

I have owned a graphtec fc7000 42", and I currently own a 54" Q series. I can see no difference other than color. That being said, I'd go for the graphtec due to the size difference, assuming that it is in good condition. They do offer stripped down Q series without a media basket, media...

could be a loose connection. there is a sliding lock on the ribbon where it plugs into the display, if this comes loose, it will cause similar problems.

Does the company that you purchased it from have tech support? I know sign warehouse techs were working on this issue over a month ago while I was down there for some training...
