  3. Large format scanning...

well, I went ahead and bought it (picked it up for 1K), it's an HP, 600dpi color scanner with touch screen computer controller. It's a 42" with a stand, looks like a decent unit. Ran a couple things through it, and imported into Flexi (350mb) for a 36"x40" print. Not sure how often I'll use...
  4. Large format scanning...

I found what seems to be a good buy on a local 42" HP color scanner with a stand alone controller. Do any of you have or use large format scanners? My problem here is, that I want to buy it, because it seems like a good deal, but I'm not sure how often I would use it... Any ideas for using...

  7. Mutoh rockhopper 38" problem (no ink)

You can replace just the small shaft with the gear on it. I ordered a complete maintenance station, and it was not included. One of the tech's at Signwarehouse gave me one off of a demo unit that they had onhand for training purposes. They should be able to tell you where to get one, or try...
  8. 52" Graphtec Plotter FC7000-100 or Q-100

I have owned a graphtec fc7000 42", and I currently own a 54" Q series. I can see no difference other than color. That being said, I'd go for the graphtec due to the size difference, assuming that it is in good condition. They do offer stripped down Q series without a media basket, media...

could be a loose connection. there is a sliding lock on the ribbon where it plugs into the display, if this comes loose, it will cause similar problems.
  12. Cutting Alignment

Does the company that you purchased it from have tech support? I know sign warehouse techs were working on this issue over a month ago while I was down there for some training...
  13. Items you’ve Wrapped.

here's a few items from this week of playing around the shop. A snowmachine cowling, hockey goalie helmet, and a motocross helmet (before, during, and after). note the mx helmet and visor don't match as this was just an experiment...and after 5 hrs, $50 bucks worth of alcohol, i've decided to...
  14. Anyone cutting magnetics on Graphtec FC series?

Biggest problem before, was the tracking, seemed to really stick to the metal...I was also trying to cut really deep. SW tech support mentioned masking the back side to prevent it from sticking to the metal on the plotter. I might give it another try, turn on the tangential emulation?, and...
  15. Anyone cutting magnetics on Graphtec FC series?

I've got an FC7000, I tried a long time ago, with terrible results. Is anyone doing this successfully? If so, any tips, tricks, etc. I'd like to be able to print a sheet of vinyl, apply it to the magnetic, and contour cut it...
  16. OMG! Graphtec cutter smoking!!!!!!

I know that I'm in no way responsible, I just thought I'd try to help the guy out by posting on here to see if anyone has had this happen, or could guide him in the right direction. The "OMG..." in the title was to dramatize it up so I could get more views:toasting:
  17. OMG! Graphtec cutter smoking!!!!!!

Just got a call from the guy who bought my FC7000-100 2 months ago...Said the plotter caught on fire!!!! Appearently he had a 15"x25yd roll of vinyl on the media rack, and it wasn't spooled out enough. When cutting, the machine jerked the roll of vinyl off the rollers, and it fell into the...

  20. Computer specs (what are you running)

I've been a little frustrated lately with trying to figure out what I need to upgrade above 4gb of ram...ie 64 bit os, correct drivers for all my programs, and equipment, etc. So I was thinking what do you all use for your computers for your digital printing, ripping, etc. Super details aren't...
