Anyone experience a change in the 8518?
I just used a roll that had a paper release liner and it wasn't as high gloss as usual.
It most definitely was a 2mil gloss cast...and the box and core was labeled correctly. I didn't have time to return it to get a new roll of the "old" stuff. Luckily...
My local VocTech high schools offer Graphic Communications programs that include pre-press (Adobe), offset lithography, screen printing, large format printing (Roland and Epson), vinyl cutting and embroidery.
I know the department head for one of the schools, so I volunteer teach wide-format...
Shutterfly Surplus Equipment and Consignment
Much of the gear is more suited to the digital printer, but there are some interesting items for the sign makers. There are a couple of nice laminators (including a fairly new Seal 62 Pro), a couple of newer HP aqueous printers and a Latex 280 (which...
I just came across this auction of Pro Printing and Graphics, in North Platte, NE. It looks like they are closing shop?? Most of the items are from their digital printing side, but there are a few sign related items including a fairly new Royal Sovereign 65" Laminator RSC-1650LSH (New 2014), w/...
Would anyone have an updated Latex 300 series service manual that they can share? I have the April 2014 / Edition 1 (I'm happy to share). I assume that there have been a few minor mods.
I'm planning on doing a Maintenance Kit #3 myself on my 360...I have access to parts.
I was a Roland/Mimaki...
Easy one... you have something on your linear encoder scale. Look right right around the same place (a couple of inches left and right).
Clean it off and you'll be good to go.

Feed for Dry
It may be the FEED FOR DRY functionality. It's there to make sure that the trailing edge of the print makes it to the dryer.
This can be ENABLED or DISABLED in the printer menu. Default functionality is ENABLED.
Locating this setting will depending on your printer model.
On the...
I repair a lot of Roland models for folks who have purchased used Roland gear (here in the Northeast).
Seems like $8k is the actual cash paid price for the typical XC-540 needing a little work and the SC-545EX ranges from $5k-$6.5k.
These are prices paid by knowledgeable buyers that have done...
Setup Sheet
So which model are we talking about?
You should load your media, lower the pinch wheels and press the setup sheet button (if applicable) before selecting the FILL TEST menu item.
You will know that the media is properly loaded when you see the appropriately measured setup width...
Linear encoder issue.
Flop the strip...if it hasn't already been flopped before. About half of the scale sits in that track, and it's usually in near perfect shape (assuming it hasn't already been flopped).
You'll have to remove the little bracket from the scale, and cut a couple of new holes...
Check out Vincent Printing in Chattanooga.
They print on a Black Back Cooley PE that is strong and SUPER lightweight (only 25 lbs for a 14x40 bulletin)
It's 100% recyclable too (PVC free)

Help with stuck, full waste bottle
I've seen this happen on a more than couple of SP's and VP's. On the last one, the cause appeared to be nothing more than not cleaning the bottle threads when replacing the bottle followed by over-tightening.
Shops deal with it in different ways. I saw one...
Code
SP-300 is pretty old...about 13 years since they last made that one.
This what I would do--
Turn the main power off and remove the battery.
Turn the main power back on. If it doesn't automatically turn on the you can enter service mode here.
If it powers on by itself, you will probably...
Key vs. Forward
Any experience with the GRIMCO ForwardBanner with the L360?
I like it, but seems to get a little wiggy with the heat. Doesn't stay flat. I think that I'll try KeyBanner next time...

Make it simple...
Make your life easier... and install from a recent version installer.
PM me and I'll get you a link to a full copy of 5.1 and a 5.21 Offline Updater.
The nice thing about the 5.21 Offline Updater is that it still includes all of the profiles... so you aren't forced to use...
VisualRIP+ is in V10
I think that I may not have communicated correctly. You can't buy just v10.
You buy VisualRIP or GrandRIP. Both are in version 10.1.
The only difference is the size of the printers that they drive. They both come with grommets marks (even small shops use this), Tiling+...
