  1. Cutting Master 5 and Reg Marks/Cutting

Cutting Master 5 isn't an upgrade to CM4. It's a total rewrite of the program. SAi built CM4. CM5 is built by Graphtec. I wouldn't expect compatibility between the two systems any more than trying to cut a print job from Omega through Flexi's production manager. CM5 does bring some cool...
  2. Thickest material die cut on a fc9000

That's a job for a flatbed. I'd hate to have to glue banner material on to a liner for 50 banners - that's like working awfully hard to make a Sawzall do the job of a screwdriver
  3. VG2 Captop replacement

It's a little different, but not too difficult. I've shown many customers how to do it. Here's how I do it... 1. Move the carriage over the platen 2. Move the capping station platform to the right to disengage it from the base. 3. - optional and I don't do it, but the manual says to...
  4. Reliable QR Code Generator?

I've used FlexiSign to create QR codes. If you have Flexi, it's in the text menu.
  5. New to me FC-9000 (metal grit roller rubbing?)

The ends do come off easily, but you need to take the black aprons off to get at the screws for the steel plate. Look under the front edge for the screws that hold the apron on.
  6. Install new Graphtec fc9000 in Omega 5

Since we're basically talking about an unsupported plotter in that software, you're going to have to try them out and see. Also, you'll likely not be able to make it read registration marks and cut Edge jobs without the "designated driver" . But you should be able to cut vinyl only jobs.
  7. Condition of Dampers LEJ-640

They normally have a foil sleeve over them to keep the light out. If you look behind the dampers that he's showing (especially the yellow one) you can see that the others are wrapped up tight.
  8. Ink is bleeding?

I'd call that overspray. Are you using OEM ink? Is the ink within the expiration date? Is the printer in a warm enough environment?
  9. New to me FC-9000 (metal grit roller rubbing?)

Try loosening the screws that hold that plate on and see if relieving any stress lets it line up better. Good Luck
  10. Install new Graphtec fc9000 in Omega 5

You can use the generic HPGL driver in Omega. Make sure that your plotter is set to HPGL command language. Good luck
  11. SG-540 on TR2 Inks - Blotchy Reds/Magenta

So the recommended environment from Roland's website is: Temperature: 68 to 89.6 °F (20 to 32 °C), humidity: 35 to 80 % RH. If you want to print outside the recommendations, I don't think you should be blaming the manufacturer if you don't get good results. The tech found a way around the...
  12. VG3-540 multi sensor adjustment.

Go into the three lines menu - select "Media Management" then pick the profile that you're using and go into the list of Media Settings - it's way down the list.
  13. Edge 2 print problems

Foil and vinyl drive tends to show up as banding across the vinyl. Since this goes with the vinyl, you're looking at something electrical or something creating a physical issue. Have you replaced the foil and vinyl squeegees or at least cleaned them? Have you cleaned the print head with the...
  14. SG-540 on TR2 Inks - Blotchy Reds/Magenta

What profile are you using? This could be just too much ink. It's hard to tell from the picture what is really going on. Can you post a picture of your nozzle test print? They can reveal more than just missing nozzles if you know what you're looking for.
  15. FC8600-160 is giving E03001 error

Make sure that you have the FC8600 selected in Flexi and not the FC8600 GPGL. Also, this could be caused by noise on your data cable. If you're using USB, make sure that you don't have any extensions or hubs between the plotter and the computer. Try a new USB cable. Check for updated USB...
  16. Roland VG3 540

That sounds like a great deal on the trade in. Probably better than selling it yourself. Other things would be just the same as any new purchase, make sure you get sample prints done with the inkset you're planning on getting. Watch them print if possible, otherwise ask them how long it takes...
  17. Need Help Banding issues on Roland vs-540

It's hard to tell. You should get a cheap hygrometer so you know where your humidity is and if your even close to your target. If there's not a lot of air exchange between your print room and other rooms, you may be able to affect it in a positive way. Good Luck
  18. How to turn a pre-existing shape into Contour Cut

I'm pretty sure this is in the HP version - select your shape Go to the Arrange Menu>Contour Cut>Make Contour Cut. Good Luck
  19. Need Help Banding issues on Roland vs-540

If your nozzle test looks good and this is only in cyan, my mind goes to static issues. This is material dependent, but if your relative humidity is below 40%, you're asking for trouble. Make sure that your environment is within the specs for your machine - generally 40 - 60% RH and 68 - 88 F...
  20. Question ROLAND "those horrid little plastic rivets

That's why I use the forceps AND keep a bag of them in my kit.
