Roland solvent inks are good for 2 years from the date on the cartridge - if stored properly. So it could be old - depending on the month. Remember to do a couple of powerful cleanings to get the fresh ink up to the head. Good Luck

I think those clip on to the bed, not the rail. Later models had clip that slid on the rail that you attached the edge guides to. Newest models have gone back to the edge guides that mount on the bed.

Are you sure those go with that machine? I don't see them listed at all for that model. The SC545EX was from before my time. Can you post a picture of the guides you have?

Clean all those sliding parts carefully with some Isopropyl alcohol, then put a drop of 3 in 1 oil on them. Sometimes the grease on those will harden or collect dust and will lock things up.
