  1. Is our laminator "worn out"? Need feedback! Royal Sovereign

Just offering this as something to try... Our Royal Sovereign is ancient, and recently started having bad problems with bubbles on one side. We discovered that there was a tiny screw that was kind of loose. It seems to control the evenness of pressure across the rollers when the top roller is...
  2. Window perf overlap?

We always overlap a small amount because of the shrinkage possibility. I don't think it looks too bad. We also do some with vinyl logo or whatever applied on top of the perf. Problem with that is, of course, it cancels out the see-throughness of the perf.
  3. Anyone know how to get margins the same after sheet cut at the beginning and end?

I would measure the difference in margins and then manually advance the sheet that much after each print before sheet cutting. You could make a mark (with tape maybe) on the printer so you don't have to measure each time. On my Roland, a different model, I have to hit the "Base Point" button...
  4. Curious how you deal with this type of job

I've always thought that too... the "the vinyl senses your fear." :-D
  5. Curious how you deal with this type of job

Very interested to know how this works...!

  7. Need a Tech For My Roland BN20

Try All Square. They're located in Greenville area, but I believe they travel all across the state. We use them here in Columbia.
  8. Ventilation System?

Haven't thought much about extra ventilation in our printing room until now...we've started using some particularly smelly vinyl that, when heated by the printer, is giving me headaches. Any recommendations? Thanks!
  9. FC8600 Help

Did you try cutting with "advance after plot" checked? Sounds like that's what you're wanting it to do. I may be misunderstanding, however.
  10. Roland Eco Sol Max

I'm having that problem now, but don't have any solutions. We have a technician coming next Tuesday to look at that and some other issues. I'll let you know what he says, in case you're still having the problem then. Our printer is Roland Soljet Pro XC-540. But hopefully someone else will have a...
  11. Roland XC-540 - One color out, can I print other colors?

Our Roland XC-540 probably needs a new yellow printhead, but we can't get service on it until mid-month. Does anyone think I will do any further harm to it by continuing to print things that don't require any yellow? I have tried it with some decals that use only 100% black, and they print fine...
  12. Need Help Free sites for vector graphics

Don't know how the price compares to other sites, but we've been using imageclub10 and love it! It has a lot of sign/vehicle-specific artwork.
  13. 54" KRAFT PAPER ROLLS for Royal sovereign laminator

We use the leftover laminate backing paper after using up a roll of laminate. Won't work, of course, if your lam has a plastic film backing.
  14. Does anyone know how to delete jobs in the queue without opening Onyx?

This is what I found to fix the same problem: Very simple. Worked for me!
  15. Contour cut window perf?

We just had to do it for the first time...had to cut individual letters in a black perf vinyl that supposedly will look black in the daytime and white at night when backlit (I'm a little dubious), but anyway it helped a lot to laminate the vinyl first so the blade has a smooth surface to cut...
  16. air pockets in my lams....

Not much help, but...you definitely shouldn't be having air pockets/bubbles-at least not a lot of them. Something must not be set right. If you could post some photos, it might be easier to tell what's going on.
  17. Skewing, how to prevent it on a Royal Sovereign

Wider blank margins help, like at least an inch each side, because you're never going to get it perfectly square, in my opinion. But if you do your best to square it up, and leave yourself a little "margin for error," you should be ok!
  18. What Do You Use? Where To Buy?

Drywall tape! Good idea! Thanks, Andy D! I really like using the paper tape because it saves you from having to waste a good bit of the vinyl or banner by pulling it out far enough to reach the take-up. I still cut the V and use masking tape. The paper tape is like an extension. I thought it was...
  19. What Do You Use? Where To Buy?

When we got our new Epson last year, it came with a roll of non-adhesive "paper tape" that's meant to be used to attach the leading edge of material to the take-up roll (see .jpg). Problem is, I'm running out of it and can't figure out where to buy more. Alternatively, is there a simple way to...
