The first thing you want to check is if there is actually ink in the black cartridge. Sometimes they are empty and don't flag the printer properly. If that's not the issue then I would suspect the dampers need to be changed.

It looks like you're using two different spot colors in one file. Make sure the lines in the design file are actually named the same spot color.

There's an interrupt near the lever under the head carriage cover. A little flag has to interrupt it to tell the machine it's in low mode. Most likely the sensor is bad or the flag or sensor got knocked out of place.
