  1. Wiper Blade

Are you saying that there is more ink on the wiper than usual? I'm not sure what would cause that but wiper is something you should be cleaning fairly regularly so it's expected to have ink on it fairly often.
  2. Mimaki vs Roland

The reason techs are so hit and miss is because the training usually consists of learning how to install the printer and not how to troubleshoot and fix it. It does go through how to change a head but that's mostly so you can learn how to do the alignments at install. After that the tech has to...
  3. Mimaki CJV150-130 Wrong Ink IC error

True for anything the ink touches. If your main board blows for some reason however, it should still be covered. But if the head clogs the first question they ask on the warranty request is what ink are you using.
  4. Mimaki UV inks expire sometimes in a month, beware

I know on the Mutoh solvent MS31 inks, even when they expire the printer lets you keep printing like nothing is wrong. Do the UV Mutoh inks actulaly lock you out?
  5. Mimaki UV inks expire sometimes in a month, beware

The short shelf life of UV inks is a common problem. As a Mimaki dealer we only stock inks that we have a large customer base for to avoid them expiring on our shelf or making customers mad when they see the shot date. All others we drop ship to get the freshest date. If you had the machine...
  6. Washed out colors with illuminated lightboxes

It's a fairly common issue but worth bringing up once in while to see how everyone is doing it these days. The double strike or overprint option in your RIP is used for this in a lot of cases where it prints the same pass multiple times to get more ink density. The problem is ink pools up and...
  7. Need Help Mimaki JV150-160 wont output black color

The first thing you want to check is if there is actually ink in the black cartridge. Sometimes they are empty and don't flag the printer properly. If that's not the issue then I would suspect the dampers need to be changed.
  8. Production Manager Issue

It looks like you're using two different spot colors in one file. Make sure the lines in the design file are actually named the same spot color.
  9. Any tricks to make HP Latex 54 Plotter cut finer, better detail? (sample pics attached)

Did you change your offset setting when changing blade types/angles? If not, you might try again and make sure to change that setting. I would think a higher angle blade would be better for the higher detail.
  10. Weird order scam? Anyone ever have something like this before?

Most likely a stolen credit card who's original owner will then chargeback and you won't win an appeal. Or they send you a bad check or fake money order. I used to report all the scams we get but they simply don't care. Unless it's 100's of thousands of dollars they don't see it as worth...
  11. Need Help Mimaki UJV100-160 screen says outdated ink, anyway to reset the clock

Also these machines came with the 2 liter bulk system by default. If you can't use the 2 liters in the expiration time, it's probably a good idea to switch to 440 cartridges.
  12. Question Why no clear or varnish for Mutoh MP31 inks?

I'm not 100% sure but it might be that the MP11 inks are a UV ink and the MP31 is, I believe, alcohol based. I'm thinking that difference probably has something to do with it.
  13. Sc540ex part out

You can just flush the system with the cleaning solution as DL Signs signs mentioned. I can't remember what it's called on Roland machines but there should be some sort of discharge and flush function. It empties out the flush afterward so you just have empty lines. It can sit like that for a...
  14. Need Help Mimaki UJV100-160 screen says outdated ink, anyway to reset the clock

Usually Mimaki gives you 60 days after expiration before it locks you out. If it's not letting you continue then it's probably been longer than 60. You can try to get your hands on some new chips from a 3rd party ink supplier. I've heard of people removing the battery from the main board on...
  15. So this is looking bad... s80600 has been turned off for a week :(

I had a customer who had a cheap battery backup and as soon as the heaters would turn on, weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!
  16. Print head height

There's an interrupt near the lever under the head carriage cover. A little flag has to interrupt it to tell the machine it's in low mode. Most likely the sensor is bad or the flag or sensor got knocked out of place.
  17. Need help. Chinese xp600 UV Flatbed Printer Problems

That's true for the Ricoh heads but Epson heads like the XP600 don't use a gravity feed system. It's one of those things that sounds like it could be true so it gets repeated a lot. In fact, if you disconnect a damper on an Epson based machine, the ink will defy gravity and recede back to the...
  18. Computer type

As a self builder I agree with you 100%. However, I've noticed there are a lot of people who, no matter how convincing you can be, want to buy, "Something they know will just work." I guess if the 30% markup is worth it to them, it keeps the retail computer manufacturers in business.
  19. Adjusting From Spot Color

Use Flexi's color mapping function. You basically start with the Pantone you want and it prints out a bunch of swatches that have slightly different CMYK values. You pick the one that looks the closest to the color you want and it will print that Pantone with those CMYK values from now on...
  20. Valuejet 426 prints are blurry/cloudy

Usually the CR board doesn't cause issues. It's not impossible but very very rare. Usually it's going to be a bad cable or the main board. AS Gino mentioned, it could be static as well but in my experience, the amount of fuzziness you're getting is usually electrical. That being said, I was...
