  1. 10yr Old Wrap Removal Suggestions

Just my 2Cents. Screw the removal. You will forever look back on it and wonder “what was I thinking”. I’ve been there. Look into doing one of those perimeter frames that you attach a banner to. Much easier. The System - Ackland Media Frames . They even sell you the banner at a good price...
  2. Roland only ink or generic

I have an SC545EX and use STS ink. No problems so far. Used Bordeaux for 5+ years with good results. It’s only worth changing from oem if you are really pumping out work on the printer. Using the machine every day. 3rd party ink requires more cleaning and maintenance on the machine in my...
  3. STS Eco Solvent Inks?

I’ve been using STS for about a year and it’s been good in my Roland SC545EX so far. I like it because it’s made in the USA. Was using Bordeaux for about 5 years and liked it until black started to over spray and never improved liter to liter. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Discussion When to purchase a bucket truck.

That’s a monster truck. I’d go with a decent used one. It will take your business to the next level. It will change your mindset and confidence level. I put off buying a bucket truck for years and now I don’t know how we got by without it for so long. I purchased an older one cash and use it 3...
  5. Do you hem all sides of banner?

All 4 sides with grommets every 2ft. Sign world America has inexpensive banner tape that works well enough. Trick is to place tape on edge and run the roller over it to push tape into scrim. Fold and run roller over it again. Flip over for grommets and run roller again if you have the time...
  6. Suggestions XC-540 material raises and the head hits it

Have you tried cleaning the pinch rollers? Some may be gripping better than others. I have a sc545ex and it has a weight thing that sits on the feed rollers to create tension. If the roll is less than half full I use it. Seems to help. Does the XC have that? You can also run the carriage/head...
  7. I did it...switched from Roland EcoMax2 ink to Solaris

It depends on the volume of printing you are doing. If you are running your machine most of the Day aftermarket ink is worth it and will save you big $$$$ every year. If you don’t print consistently everyday it might be best to stick with oem. I’ve been running Bordeaux since 2013 without any...
  8. What kind of work vehicle do you use?

I have a 2003 express van. Traded a customer for some graphics on his new vans. Can’t beat that! Also have a 1992 GMC 3500 34’ bucket truck. Has the service body with 10ft bed. It’s an old electrician truck but only has 83,000 miles on it. The generator works and we use it 1-2 times a week...
  9. Pricing Software

Make an excel sheet with formulas so all you need to do is punch in the measurements and it shows a price. Works for all square footage projects. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  10. Gray Printing Green - Help?

Training works great if you want to make your own profiles, been there done that for several years with all the gadgets. Just strange that printer and material manufacturers offer profiles that can't hit grays on CMYK printers. Battled with it for a long time on Roland and Mimaki. Just feel that...
  11. Gray Printing Green - Help?

Why haven't the printer/rip manufacturers figured this out yet? Give the CMYK people what they need! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  12. Cjv30-130 Head replacement?

Replace your dampers, cap top, and wiper. Give it a good weekend head soak and see where you are at before buying the new head. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
  13. easy ways to save money without sacrificing quality.

I try to remind myself to focus 95% of my time on generating income and 5% of my time on saving. It is easy to get stuck trying to save and end up spending $50 to save $5. Happened to me Friday trying to see who has the better price on IJ35. I realized I could have made 5 follow up calls in that...
  14. Best Outdoor Vinyl

Give the prints at least a 6 hours minimum to off gas on a loosely wound roll especially if you are running full bleed. As far as I know the only outdoor prints/inks that can be laminated immediately are printed on a latex machine. We run 3M IJ35c with Arlon 3420 laminate all day. Been using...
  15. Laminating window perf

Another Avery 1360 user here. Can’t go wrong. We also use 65/35 perf. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. Question Do you use dedicated rip computer?

Separate computers is the way to go. I have a RIP station for each printer. Keeps riping and printing moving all day. I even went and got a monster/overkill computer to run Mimaki rasterlink. Keep everything on a network and you cant go wrong.
  17. Rant Are you open on Saturday?

I personally feel that the weekend is for family and friends. That’s the main reason I closed up on Saturday other than the not making money part. It seems that many Americans have lost the concept of family time being important. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. 70/30 or 60/40 Laminated Perf

Fly digital could probably do it for you. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Shop Pics

[emoji857] I agree with that! I’m lucky if I get half that in my ghetto hood! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  20. Rant Are you open on Saturday?

Why do people keep asking me if I’m open on Saturday? We are a custom sign shop that caters to businesses Monday-Friday. It seems like every week someone asks me what time we are open on Saturday. I tried to open on Saturday for about a year in 2013. I would get soccer moms wanting a single...
