  1. Roland Soljet Pro II SC-540 for sale $200?

Almost Every part on the machines is identical. Flip a couple switches on main board and set dip switch settings in service menu and bam it’s a sc545ex. I did this on a CJ540 and have been running it as a sc545ex on versaworks for over 5 years. Did the same on a SC540. Sent from my iPhone...
  2. Is customer trying to scam me?

I’ve seen this personally with gloss IJ35. Stack the signs and they stick/transfer ink. We switched to cheap matte oracal for yard signs/cheap signs. No stacking sticking/transfer problems since we started using matte. If they are repeat customers I’d offer a discount (maybe 10%) on the order...
  3. Must Have Accessories?

    - laminator - panel saw - good rotary hammer (not hammer drill) - 24ft extension ladder - spirit level - stud finder Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  4. Need Help Printer Cutter for non-graphics business?

It’s a hard decision. Personally i would not recommend it. Those print/cut machines need to be run frequently or you will have problems. The ink dries up and clogs ink lines, heads, pumps, tubing. Also factor in Maintenance, designer training/r&d time, trashed material waste and learning curve...
  5. Replacement Print Head options, SP300v?

Yes, you are correct epson makes the print heads. However, the heads you purchase should be Roland specific for the correct rank number, it’s a voltage thing I believe. Not saying others won’t work, just that Roland specific ones have rank #’s for Roland machines. Sent from my iPhone using...
  6. Replacement Print Head options, SP300v?

I have purchased several DX4 heads from sign-in-China.com. They appear to be real Roland parts with rank numbers and all. I run them in my SC545. Just make sure you get the ecosolvent ones. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  7. What entry-level laminator do you recommend?

$1000 is a good down payment for a decent entry laminator. Get a Royal Sovereign, decent and affordable. I’ve had the same 54” Royal in my shop since 2012 and we still use it everyday. Just have to get the technique down. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  8. Are you guys finding it harder and harder to actually talk to a customer?

Easy technique we use that builds “modern day” relationships and communication/access. When you get a new customer find them on social media and become friends. It’s slightly stalkerish but builds the relationship/loyalty and creates another communication point. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  9. Need Help Roland sc 545ex, Ink Fill Flooded Shop Floor

pump line is probably busted. Install a new cap top and pump and you’ll most likely be in good shape after that. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  10. Heat assist or cold roll

We've been running a cold Royal for the past 5 years with no issues. We had a heated GBC before and rarely used the heat. If you have the money get the nicer one. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  11. Trade only distributor selling to retail.

We all appreciate businesses making money. Just don't tell people or advertise that you're a "trade only" supplier if you are not going to stick by what you say. I understand the frustration. We help other small shops with projects all time at wholesale rates but that's completely different than...
  12. Roland Soljet Pro II SC-540 for sale $200?

If the ink lines are empty they might have flushed the heads out before removing from service. This would be a total score because the heads will most likely still be in good running order.
  13. DX4 Printhead from China

Old thread but here's my opinion. DX4 heads are all made by Epson. There is no replica/aftermarket DX4 heads. The Chinese are good but not that good! I have purchased and installed multiple heads from Signinchina/eBay. As long as you purchase the head that is made/ranked for your machine...
  14. Need Help Recommended premask for wet installaions

  15. Roland Soljet Pro II SC-540 for sale $200?

Get it! You can convert firmware settings to be an sc545ex and run versaworks. How long has it been out of service? Heads are probably dry and will need replacement if it's been sitting for a long time. You could make a good amount of $$$$ selling the parts on eBay. Sent from my iPhone using...

  17. Need Help Digitally Printed Wrap Vinyl MPI 1105 EZ RS incorrectly laminated with DOL 2060, can it be applied?

Reprint. The calendared lam will shrink and tent. No matter how much you heat its gonna pull back. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Rant RRRRRRRRRR...New sign request with attachment

Did the phone call go like this: "I was gonna have you guys design it but my nephew is a dope head, I mean self taught "graphics designer". I gave him the specs and he did an amazing job." Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  19. Question 300ppi for a 10' x 8' backdrop???

300dpi is more for press printing. This is grand format, nothing is printed at 300dpi this large. Set to 150 and move on with life. Whoever they used before was doing the same. The fact that they are allowing it to run through a place like B2 shows they aren't that critical. Sent from my...
