  1. Game On: If you laugh you loose!

I didn't laugh, but I did shove a pencil in my ear and ran zig zags around the shop to stop that song from playing in my head. Does that mean I win? :scream:
  2. That ink will void your warranty!!!!(*&*&^%

Oh, Merritt.. just say your name and you pop up, eh? Sorry I misspoke. I do remember now that experience with the XL was positive even prior to Sericol. I have, however, spoken to many other operators of XLjet's who experienced the exact same issues with the printer/ink (and HP as a...
  3. That ink will void your warranty!!!!(*&*&^%

As for the XL, its a design flaw in the ink. If you do a search for Sericol, you'll find other members (like Merritt Graphics) who were in the same boat with their XL until Sericol came along. There are instances, though few and far between, where the OEM ink is truly inferior. That is one of...
  4. That ink will void your warranty!!!!(*&*&^%

You obviously don't own a Scitex XL1500. In stock form w/OEM inks, it IS broke. HP's inks are crap. They dry too aggressively and cause clogged heads and banding. The fix? Sericol ink. Superior in EVERY aspect to the OEM inks. The machine now runs better and produces superior prints. Why...
  5. That ink will void your warranty!!!!(*&*&^%

Really, there's the crux of it right there. I would never argue that some is "wrong" to use OEM inks, but I would say that someone would be wrong to not even consider 3rd party. You do what is right for your business- and your piece of mind. I stand nothing to lose or gain by the ink choices...
  6. That ink will void your warranty!!!!(*&*&^%

 Look, what I know, I know from experience. I have YEARS of experience running 3rd party inks in 2 Mutoh Toucans, a Seiko Colorpainter and an HP Scitex XLjet. Now my Gandi 1224 has been through 3 OEM ink formulations (all from companies that also produce "3rd party" inks). I have...
  7. That ink will void your warranty!!!!(*&*&^%

I understand what you're saying and I don't disagree in principle. The risks of such a situation are very low, however. Just to play devil's advocate- how would the media manufacturer prove that you weren't using OEM inks?
  8. That ink will void your warranty!!!!(*&*&^%

Cptcorn & Farmboy; I certainly understand your point of view and I can't really fault your logic. However (as anyone who has converted an XL1500 to Sericol inks can attest) there are instances where a 3rd party ink can actually be superior to OEM. Bear in mind, too, that many of the 3rd party...

  10. Printer Decision for Entry Level Into Digital Printing

Honestly, man, give it up. You don't know what you're talking about and you're not even bothering to READ the discussion you're responding to. No flame here, just honesty.
  11. Printer Decision for Entry Level Into Digital Printing

:omg2: :banghead:  Yikes. End of discussion.
  12. Printer Decision for Entry Level Into Digital Printing

:thankyou: ProWraps, do you print YOUR wraps with an aqueas printer? It is an old thread, but it is a debate that I still hear. I'm honestly curious; what wrapping cast material is compatible with 5500UV inks? What is the stated warranty of 5500UV inks, outdoors without lamination? Also...
  13. That ink will void your warranty!!!!(*&*&^%

I'm aware of that statute in regard to automobiles. Essentially, it means that aftermarket parts cannot void your warranty unless it can be proven that they are the DIRECTLY the cause of a specific mechanical failure. I had wondered if it would apply to printers. Hmmm...
  14. Static Fix?

I have the answer for you! We had the exact same problem with our FC8000. In fact, our static was so bad that it was shorting out the machine! Get this kit http://stopstatic.com/accessories.html#cord We put ours on the back of the plotter and we haven't had any issues since. Works great on...

  16. Empty HP9000 and Seiko cartridges wanted

Seiko, actually. Same difference. Currently using 20/20 color from Grimco. Best quality & best price I've found. I formerly used Triangle- no real complaints, but the 20/20 better.
  17. Dye Sublimation Printing

No press. The Velotex is a 64" direct print unit with a built in fixation unit (see pic in post above yours). As soon as they come off the printer, they're ready to go!
  18. Empty HP9000 and Seiko cartridges wanted

Huh?!? I've got like 40 of em sitting around!
  19. Printer Decision for Entry Level Into Digital Printing

Have you ever printed a vehicle wrap on a 5500? A pole banner? A real estate sign? A vehicle magnetic? When the sign shop down the street is printing 13oz scrim @ 40¢ sq.ft. cost and retailing for $3, what product are you going to offer them to compete in cost and durability? Most...
  20. Dye Sublimation Printing

The hardware is from duo display. They're called duo.set Nope, we have a US Sublimation Velotex (with the Mutoh Valuejet 1614 print engine)
