  1. Gandi flatbed ink

Thanks for your reply, gourami! Anyone else? I know we've got quite a few Gandi's on this board
  2. Computer upgrade ideas

If it ran in Vista, it'll run in 7. Again, just make sure that you do a clean install! Never do a standing upgrade. Win7 is fantastic!
  3. Pricing 12 Semi Trailer Wraps

I hope you mean that it will RIP faster. Printer speed is determined by the print mode that the operator has selected, not the source file size/resolution. Unless you're printing AS you rip.
  4. Computer upgrade ideas

Every time I feel that a computer is getting sluggish I will wipe the entire hard drive and put a fresh copy of windows in place. If you're backing your critical files up like you should, it shouldn't take more than 2 hours to do. The difference is always tremendous. Most OS's will slow down...
  5. Eleven Ten Ink Conversion

Don't bother with Triangle unless you're getting a sweet deal. I ran triangle bulk inks in my colorpainter for about 2 years until the chip resetters started to go bad. I was always content with the inks, but the cost of replacing the chip resetters was outrageous so they forced me to look...
  6. Gandi flatbed ink

Those of you with Gandi flatbeds; what ink are you running and what do you think of it? I've been running the Premium inks for a couple years now. I've always been happy with the performance, but I heard that the GUV inks may be better still. Has anyone here had experience with both the GUV...
  7. ORACAL Vinyls

Since the Avery fallout a few years back (and some problems we had with neschen RTA vinyl), we have become an Oracal house. I've been very pleased with Oracal products across the board. 3651M is our standard cal product 210G/M/SG standard overlam for cal vinyl or the occasional flatbed...
  8. AGFA buys Gandi

Absolutely! While it is interesting to watch this all go down, I do think it is ultimately detrimental to the industry as a whole. Having said that, this is a byproduct of the global economic woes (in part, anyway). As such, I believe that as the economy regains momentum, the smaller...
  9. AGFA buys Gandi

Good info, Steve. Of course, there's also relationship between Fuji and Agfa since Fuji owns Dimatix/Spectra who makes the heads in the Gandi's (among many others). Funny how rapidly everything is weeding out. I wonder who's next for acquisition. Mutoh? Seiko Infotech? Mimaki?
  10. AGFA buys Gandi

I'm pretty sure it's fuji http://www.fujifilmsericol.com/products/inkjet/presses/FujifilmSericolUSAUVDigitalPresses.htm ...or, then again http://www.incadigital.com/company/
  11. AGFA buys Gandi

Yup- that has happened before. History has a way of repeating itself.
  12. AGFA buys Gandi

I don't believe there was any ever reality to the rumor that Gandi was just going to disappear. They've been in financial trouble, yeah, but they were far too valuable to be left to die. A merger/buyout has been on their horizon since long before their bankruptcy.
  13. AGFA buys Gandi

Maybe now all the 3rd party ink guys will stop coming in here crying that Gandi is going to disappear so we'd better switch to their ink. I've had 3 visits in as many weeks.
  14. Hello from Bartlett, IL - Mark Your Space

    Welcome from Rockford, IL
  15. A couple (maybe dumb) questions about foam dimensional letters

I try (and prefer) to use PVC where I can. It's more durable for the customer and more forgiving for me in production. However, I do have customers who simply INSIST on a soft foam core type product.
  16. A couple (maybe dumb) questions about foam dimensional letters

Howmac is a wholesale supplier. http://www.howmac.com/ They do fantastic work and I still use them when I need to, but I try to do as many things in house as I can.
  17. A couple (maybe dumb) questions about foam dimensional letters

I haven't been on here much lately. Business took a bit of a hit between the economy and the fire we had a few months back. Things are finally getting back to normal, and I wanted to start back into the signs101 community by posing a couple questions that have been bugging me for awhile...
  18. Gandinnovations 1224 or Fujifilm Acuity Advance

Milano, I guess I just don't get where you're coming from. Perhaps its your sentence structure (that's not intended as a flame). You say: "I found that Ghandi was a Work Horse but lacks longevity It prints great for a few hundred sqft feet or so then you gotta redo everything Bidirs...
  19. Gandinnovations 1224 or Fujifilm Acuity Advance

Just to add another point in Gandi's corner: It's common to have problem's with a new printer. HOWEVER: Our Gandi's serial number is 7. Our printer is such an early model and it is still bulletproof.
  20. Gandinnovations 1224 or Fujifilm Acuity Advance

I would also add that I don't think the quality of the nanojet is that much better than the standard 1224 with the 30pl Spectra SE heads. Not enough to sacrifice stainless steel heads and speed, anyway.
