  2. Dye Sublimation Printing

Here's a little glamour shot of some fabric retractable banner stands we did last week. I was so proud of these.

  4. Printer Decision for Entry Level Into Digital Printing

In that matchup; Roland hands down. But they're not even comparable, really. 2 different types of printers for 2 different purposes. For a sign shop, outdoor durability is an absolute necessity. You're not going to print anything on that HP that will go outside and last for very long. On...

Supposedly, I have some samples of GUV Satin finish coming today. We'll see how that fares...

  7. Gandi flatbed ink

Time to reopen this old thread! So, they switched our Premium inks over to the new "HC" inks and I am not happy. The color is certainly better, but the adhesion isn't as good as the premium inks (which is a BIG problem) and the light banding ("lawnmower banding") is atrocious. They're now...

For things like that, you can use SuperBrightLEDs.com
  9. Sun Chemical inks experience

I'll second that. Magenta clogging, though serious, was my only complaint. I would look into sericol, too.

  12. Getting HP Scitex XL1500 - need tec & ink supplier

Now that I've seen the performance difference, I'd almost be willing to pay MORE for the Sericol inks. The fact that they cost less is just a perk that comes along with the improvement in color quality and overall machine performance. I wish Sericol made inks for all my machines.
  13. Getting HP Scitex XL1500 - need tec & ink supplier

As for setup/installation, you really should get someone from (or formerly from) HP to assist. The HP/Scitex "care center" number is 800-669-5869 Grimco also sells the XLjet so they might be able to help. If you need more leads, I can do some digging through my stack of HP business cards for...
  14. Getting HP Scitex XL1500 - need tec & ink supplier

Talk to Michael Labella at US sublimation about the dye sub consumables and heat presses. www.ussublimation.com 1-800-835-7576 If he can't help you directly, I'm sure he can point you in the right direction. If you're going to be running solvent inks in addition to the dye sub, Sericol...
  15. Valuejet 1614 Onyx print modes and resolutions

What is the difference in print resolutions between a given resolution and that same resolution with an MD after it? For instance; 720 or 720 MD? Also, what is the difference between the ink configurations of CMYK, CMYK Enhanced, and CMYK Mxm VarDot? As usual, the Onyx documentation doesn't...

  17. Laminator Roller Repair/Re-coating

I need to have one of the rollers on my Seal 6000 re-coated. Does anyone have recommendations for where to send it? The closer to Chicagoland the better, as I'm sure the shipping on a 62" roller is going to be a bear.
  18. Matthews Paint Systems

We had a matthews system installed a few months back. It has been well worth it. We were using automotive grade paints for our exterior cabinets and channel letters. Now we have the ability to mix everything on-site instead of going out to have pantones matched and the paint quality is first...
  19. Impressive bus wrap -- NOT MINE!

    Simply brilliant!
  20. Gandi flatbed ink

Very interesting, Typestries! Nazdar has been trying to get me to switch my 1224, but I'm still under warranty and ink contract with Gandi so I couldn't even if I wanted to. I used to run Nazdar's (lyson) ink in my Toucans and they were great, so I usually think of them first when I'm...
