  1. Summa S2 not lifting knife high enough

Thank you for both great replies, we've earlier thought about the extra pinch wheels and I'll definately look into that, thank you! Great to get response so quickly from Summa! :notworthy: Also great idea about the feed tables, since the problem is the material puckering up between pinch...
  2. Summa S2 not lifting knife high enough

We have a Summa S2 D160 (drag knife) and I absolutely love the machine, does great work except for one thing: We print on Substance material and laminate with a very thick Substance laminate (for those not knowing Substance it's material for motorcross motorcycle decals etc. so thick stuff). We...
  3. Printing and cut on silver and gold vynil

Try sticking a piece of matte lam over the reg marks, can help in some cases. If no luck, print some crop marks on white vinyl and stick them on (try to position them as accurately as possible). Good luck!
  4. Locky Virus problems!!!!

Do you know where it came from? Downloaded files? E-mail attachment? Sorry to hear about the problems but at least you get a clean restart now, I think it's good you didn't pay anything!
  5. Choosing Ink Configuration for VS540i

If you do a lot of commercial signage, outdoor jobs and wraps my best bet would be the double CMYK just because of speed. The light inks do more for indoor jobs (POS, wall graphics etc.) that are ment to be viewed very closely and where for example skin tones need to be great. It doesn't do much...
  6. Shopping for new job management software

We've been using Estimate for a couple of years but does anybody know if they are they still in business? Their website, blog and fb hasn't been active since 2013 so... Still works good but looking to maybe switch to Shopvox.
  7. Difference between household inkjet printers , and production printers.

The household inkjet uses waterbased inks and not solvent or eco-solvent inks so perhaps you can try some self adhesive that's ment for water based printers such as the HP Z-series or similar? Have never tried it and as another poster said I'd use a laser printer with suitable self adhesive...
  8. Matte Lamination = Non-Skid?

You want to have the certificate for the floor laminate in order when a granny slips on the decal and breaks her hip, so if it's a public area I'd say outsource this job to someone who has the material in stock. OR you could try to find a nice supplier who is willing to let you "try out" their...
  9. Skewed feed on 360

About the lag; have you tried to do a file system check? HP manual says to do this every six months or so. Just a 0.05 that don't take long to try, though I doubt myself it will help, just throwing it out here...
  10. Lettering on a shipping Container

We've done a couple hundred of these containers and a manual that we got (which specifies how to make these markings, they are standardized) says you strictly HAVE to use cast material or paint, calendered is forbidden. I'd recommend you check with your client what material they want since there...
  11. Difference between UV and Latex

If it had strong odour it is most certainly UV (if it's not solvent but that smell/feel are you used to =). Latex has little to no smell at all. Of course the material can have some smell itself but in this case it's most certainly UV.
  12. HP DesignJet 5500PS

It's a great deal at 500 bucks but check the carriage belt so it's not terrible worn. It can be a cost and takes a while/is a bit fiddly to change correctly.
  13. Streaks In Print

+1 for this. We hade the same problem on a SP-540i. It turns out the pinch rollers was very dirty and sticky and had never been cleaned. They should be yellowish/brown - ours was black and sticky. Really made a difference, didn't think it would but it did. So try that first if you haven't...
  14. Anyone tried Siser Colorprint Easy

We print a bit on the Easyprint and it works great in my opinion, for us it's a good "allround" heat transfer.
  15. L360 touch screen problems.

I find the touch screen great in responsiveness and speed but have you tried restarting the printer and/or running the file system check? It sounds like it's not right if it's that slow but since it is in fact like a computer you probably need to restart it sometime every now and then. You...
  16. Black (Gun Metal) Grommets?

We switched to the transparent plastic ones from brass/metal ones in the beginning of this year and have not had any problems yet. The manufacturer claims they hold up as well as the metal ones since their plastic is durable outside and don't get eaten by sunlight/UV. The application of the...
  17. Cutting Oracal Specialty series 352 polyester Gold

Definitely try a 60 degree blade, cut with sloow speed and also check your blade holder (and clean it) so it don't stick. If it's dirty it will show more problems on difficult materials. Good luck!
  18. Black (Gun Metal) Grommets?

In a pinch, can you perhaps use transparent ones if the substrate itself is black/printed black? Just a thought...
  19. sticky backing on arlon dp 8000 contour cutting problem

We use the same material with the same stickyness and on the Rolands you can try to remove the media clamps alltogether and not use any, helps a bit. And go sloow with a new knife. But it's tricky to cut, even on the Summa. Seems like the backing is quite slippery...
  20. SMS Consultants or used car salesmen?

If it feels bad at this early stage, imagine how it would be to work with them...:banghead:
