  1. 8k sticker order. I have questions

Fast is a relative term. I have an XR, but compared to my old SP, its fast. Some shops are set up different than others, my point was a phone call to stouse allows you to work on other projects. I for one don't want to be in the sticker business, I make better money elsewhere.
  2. How many are running Networked Attached Storage (NAS) for your files?

I'm running 2 (mirrored) 4TB SSD drives in my NAS box. Seems to be working really well, I still use the computer hard drives daily, but they automatically back up once a week. I have lost hard drives before and it really hurts.
  3. 8k sticker order. I have questions

I understand that as well. Run a sheet, and see how long it takes, then start figuring out ways to shave time. Seconds and minutes add up to $$$. I'm sorry i don't know much about your machine to help with the particulars, but I find that around 6 foot is a sweet spot for making decals.
  4. 8k sticker order. I have questions

I have a fast printer and all of the equipment, but I would sub that out in a heartbeat. Sometimes its better to make a percentage profit than to spend 20 hours labor to make the same money. I understand wanting to use the equipment you have sitting there, but the math has to work or you will...
  5. Question Going rate on color change wrap

Your first post said their quote was too much and now you say it is cheaper than what anyone here mentioned? The only thing I'm curious about is why you are trying to cheap out on a Denali truck in the first place? Spend the big money now to have it done right, or save your money for when you can.
  6. Glueing acrylic letters to wood

Is the wood cleared? I have been using weld-on 45 for a lot of stuff lately, it works for almost everything.
  7. Merry Christmas! I finally bought a printer

I feel like I learn new things about profiles and printing everyday, and I pretty much have printed everyday since '06. Some things are trial by fire while other things you will figure out and put into action without a mistake that prompted it. I constantly read up on these machines to learn...
  8. Failed window perf

I would say old material. I hate the three hour part for you, hopefully the wholesaler will own up and help. I am by no means a wholesaler, but I do have a few other shops around here that I print for and no way no how would I send mixed media to one of them for a job. I will do that to...
  9. Anyone with yz 125 graphics

The member, Flame either sells or used to sell templates I believe.
  10. Get a dashcam

I have been thinking about getting some dash cams. I had a lady pull out in front of me in my personal truck a couple of months ago, with some sign posts in the bed. The slid forward, dented and scratched my cab, rear door and bedside (as the flew out crashing to the ground) I did not have my...
  11. Winter installations

I have had trouble with formed plastic letters when its really cold. If your stud holes aren't perfect, a little persuasion will end up cracking them. For vinyl, I try to aim for sunny days, and I leave the heat on in the truck and only get the vinyl out as needed and work fast. Frozen ground...
  12. Oracal 3164 with 290 lam?

It isn't wise experience, its generally making mistakes the first time. :) But the real answer is 290 is a cast laminate and 3164 is a calendered vinyl, and a cheap one at that. You usually don't want to mix cast and calendered, There are exceptions to the rule, 3551 is an example of one that...
  13. Oracal 5600 Reflective Vinyl failure

I have not had a lot of luck out of the 5600 series stuff lately. I have had both print quality issues and peeling issues. My favorite supplier is primarily Oracal, which is why most of my vinyl is Oracal, but the 5600 line is costing me. And if I'm being honest, the 3M 680 wraps into the...
  14. Oracal 3164 with 290 lam?

The expansion and contraction rates between those materials are different and it will cause problems, and eventually the laminate will look wrinkled. Don't mix these two medias.
  15. Colored LED modules in channel letters

White LEDs will look fine with translucent vinyls on white acrylic. The colors may not be quite as rich as pigmented acrylic with colored LEDs, but it will be fine.
  16. Need Help How do I remove this adhesive

if you absolutely have to have it all off, scrape a layer off, rub it with your favorite glue remover, and repeat until its gone. Its a pain, but it can be done. I prefer rapid remover over anything else I have ever tried.
  17. USDOT/WB truck numbers reversed?

I probably letter 300 commercial trucks a year, and I've never heard that. In most states, the USDOT number is all you need, but CO for example requires a VIN number. Some guys want the bare minimum, other guys want to put every number they can think of on the side.
  18. Question How to you make large purchasing decisions?

I run my printers everyday, but I sub out 95 percent of banners and coroplast. Banner hemming is too time consuming for me to make any money at, and coro without a flatbed is not even close to feasible for more than 1 offs. I just purchased a CWT flatbed laminator, got it yesterday, and have...
  19. ORACAL 3551 RA -Rivets?

It does work, and application isn't much different, but they will tent around the rivets a lot worse than cast, even after post heat.
  20. Script font

    That's close, but not quite.
