  1. Need Help What are these nasty green lines? (pic included)

These lines have been showing up in my prints sometimes. Doesn't seem to happen when printing rows of stickers or things like that. But if the print is a large (usually dark?) area, like an expensive vehicle wrap, these show up at the darndest times. This is on a Roland True-Vis VG-540. We...
  2. Need Help Scan Motor Error? Printer currently dead in the water

hmm, is that different from the limit initialization process? What's the steps for an encoder check? appreciate it!
  3. Need Help "Color matching" using two different printers

This is a fun one. We're in the middle of a full wrap on a big food truck. About half of it was printed, when our 12 year old Roland XC-540 took a dump. Needs parts and a tech can't get to us for a while. It's looking like we're gong to need to finish the job on our 2 year old Roland True Vis...
  4. Need Help Scan Motor Error? Printer currently dead in the water

Thanks I'll try that now. It says Move To Cap Position. I slide it home, hear the click. At this point I can still slide it the other way, but I don't. Then I press enter. Then it says Setting Up The Limit. Now it's locked in position. I can feel it. I press enter. You can see the carriage...
  5. Need Help Scan Motor Error? Printer currently dead in the water

Interesting... That could be where my problem is coming from. I just went into Limit Initialization, it says Move To Cap Position, I slide the carriage home until it clicks, and hit enter, Printer says Setting Up The Limit, I make sure the carriage is all the way home, and hit enter, but as of...

  8. Need Help Finally having a tech visit. what additional parts should I order?

I work at a place with a very old but very awesome Roland XC-540 that's been having some issues. We're located in a rural community 5 hours from the nearest city so getting a tech out here to work on our printers is rare and can be expensive. With that said, I am not a mechanic. If it's not in...
  9. Need Help Scan Motor Error? Printer currently dead in the water

That's a little deeper into the modes than I've been. We do have a tech coming out here in two weeks. I'm going to start a new thread that includes this next question but figured I should leave it here too.: We're in a rural community that's a several hour drive away from the nearest tech. So...
  10. Need Help Scan Motor Error? Printer currently dead in the water

I did, moved to cap position, hit enter, Then it says: Setting Up The Limit. I hit enter, and it goes right to SCAN MOTOR ERROR 0010. If I remember right, when things are working, this is when would separate the carriages?
  11. Need Help Scan Motor Error? Printer currently dead in the water

Ok Sooo, Lubricated the rail and replaced the scan motor. replacing the motor got us past the error, and it seemed ok for a minute. printed a couple things, but then the carriages separated mid print. this happened a bunch of times. The printer would fire up, start printing, and then lose its...
  12. Need Help Scan Motor Error? Printer currently dead in the water

Having a hard time separating the carriages They don't want to come apart! But I notice when the machine is turned off I can move the carriage easily by hand, but when the printer is on, there's a lot of resistance when you push the carriage

  14. Need Help Scan Motor Error? Printer currently dead in the water

Our old Roland XC-540 is giving an error notification every time I hit setup. SCAN MOTOR ERROR CODE: 0080 0080. Tried a limit initialization. No changes. I tried to slide the carriage across with my hand, and while I could move it, it feels like there's way more resistance than usual. Any...
  15. no color from one printer head roland sp 540v

Looks like Jim has the answer to your issue, but as far as your general question: I do a manual head cleaning once a week. At the beginning of every day of printing, I do a test print to check the heads. If There's any dots missing, I'll have the machine do a regular cleaning.
  16. Cut Blade Has One Spot Where It Gets Confused?

We have an old but very great Roland SolJet XC-540. There's a spot on the printer about about 12" in. Whenever the carriage passes over this spot, the blade toggles up and down a couple times. It isn't dragging over the print or messing up the ink while printing, but it goes up and down, so...
  17. I Want To Make My Own Profiles

Ok I'm sick of my colors not popping the way they should. Does anyone have some tips or links for building or getting great profiles? I need some "for dummies" type step by step type stuff for this. I print all day, but don't know much at all about level adjustments or quality settings, or how...
  18. Need Help How many profiles do you really need?

Thanks everyone who shared! This has been an incredibly helpful thread. I've since downloaded a bunch of ICC profiles specific to the media we print on. They're great but there's a few things I still haven't figured out. I'll ask these questions in a new thread, but thought I'd drop them here...
  19. Question Is there a way around importing files into VersaWorks Dual one at a time?

You can drag multiple files into Versaworks 6? I just switched over to Versaworks 6, and still can only import files to the queue one at a time. Is that some default setting I can switch off?
  20. Need Help MYSTERY PRINT MEDIA

I was just gifted two unused 54" rolls of Micro Perf. There's no markings or branding anywhere on the tubes, but I was told one is for vehicle windows and the other is for storefront windows. The holes on one roll are slightly bigger than the other. Do you know which is which? Thanks
