  1. 28’ AT&T NASCAR Trailer Rewrap

We would normally get a pressure washer company to blast or steam off old wraps and the underlying glue like that and see what it comes back like and go from there...(be careful the wash company actually gets the glue off around the rivets and trailer in general and doesn't just spray it around...
  2. Question What's your equipment setup?

Roland VG-540 and VG-640 Chinese Auto Laminator 4'x2' 100W CO2 Laser TexJet Echo Textile Printer Crusty Old 6 Color Screen Press
  3. How long to you warranty wraps?

We have great luck with 180 and 8519 on our Roland VG2 Solvent...I do most installs myself so its clean and leaves with no bubbles/bridging and I use adhesion primer sticks on complex areas...only cracking I have seen is maybe on a bridged panel that someone forgot to trim or a badly tented...
  4. DTF PNG vs Vector?

Working in vector is fine to a point but by the time you get a few transparent layers or shadows in there I generally convert everything to a bitmap for printing anyway...that way it comes out like I want without letting the DTG RIP interpret a complicated vector file with transparency...you can...
  5. Problems Roland Vg3 cyan

My VG2 printed great black on just the Generic Vinyl profile but on the VG3 Generic Vinyl Profile the black is very Dark Grey with tiny little white specks still visible... As ushe 3M doesn't have a profile for my CMMYKLKORGR inkset (use mostly 180c) so I found/am using the Arlon Graphics LLC...
  6. When "your" customers get signage elsewhere

Yep, someone along the line is cheap, new or thinks they are smart because they can buy shi..er..inexpensive banners online...just keep moving on and don't give it another thought if you know you did quality work...if they are good but misguided customers you will likely get to hear the story...
  7. Bubbles with metallic vinyl

Some 3M 180, 1080 or 2080 silver with air release adhesive works great if the job can afford it...lil more expensive but so much faster to put down with way less bubbles/smoother finish...I am super annoyed if I have to and only as a last resort use Avery or the 220 or anything without air...
  8. Customer wanting to use trademarked logo on their signage

Please, corporate does not want anything to do with every day dealership signage. The dealership can do almost anything from wrapping cars in giant logos or doing almost whatever sales stuff they want if its loosely follows brand standards within reason...they dont need to ask permission...
  9. Hand Painted Vintage Race Cars - very few left

Meh, if it isnt under the hood race teams are pretty cheap...lot of times back in the day it was just some guy on the team or a local guy painting it for beer/tickets to the race...now hand painting is a specialty thing in most places so race guys and/or their sponsors would not likely pay extra...
  10. Cutting ACM

Table saw is terrible to use, buy yourself a handheld concrete shear or metal shear, it crushes the edges so they arent sharp and doen't make dust and will also so curves.
  11. Roland keeping cap and lines moist

Roland VG series machines start up and run their own periodic cleanings on a schedule. So any extra solution in the caps would just be cycled off next time it runs its own maintenance routine. I let the caps soak in extra solution when cleaning heads but as soon as you finish cleaning the...
  12. Bought a new laser engraving cutting machine, need help with setup please.

Ya, I would say you somehow have your water chiller lines hooked into to your air system or you have a massive amount of condensation in your compressor. We have an OmTech and the only problem we had was a screw came loose on one of the x axis drive pulleys that slowly started to slip, since...
  13. Premasked striping woes

You need vehicle wrap vinyl...3M 2080 has an air release, repositionable adhesive that would do this easily in one app...lately we use Air-Mask for premasking...its clear and very conformable...much easier to use on vehicles than normal 2ml vinyl...if you had started with these materials I am...
  14. DTF PNG vs Vector?

We have a Texjet Echo 2 DTG with Digital Factory Apparel Version RIP/Print software... It takes eps, pdf, tiff, png, bmp, svg, jpg and a few others... I send pdf files to my Roland but still flatten most of my complicated artwork for more reliable/faithful reproduction of transparencies...some...
  15. Laminating perforated vinyl

Cant really compare lam to non-lam visibility if the life-span is going to be even shorter than normal with no lam. Getting slightly better visibility can't be worth half the lifespan especially when its going to be covered 50/50 or 60/40 with vinyl either way.
  16. Discussion How do you charge Vinyl letters cut with a plotter?

We always charge square footage for the material plus an hourly rate for setting up, cutting, weeding whatever it is. If its actually simple or easy to weed it ends up cheaper and maybe cheaper again on repeat jobs. Straight square footage pricing can be exploited on both ends.
  17. re: branding companies and ad agencys

No really, you sound awesome to work for...
  18. Stomp Shear.

I got a handheld electric metal shear for 4mm ACP panel and a handheld electric concrete shear for thicker stuff...got to clamp a straight edge on the sheet to run a straight cut and it takes an 1/8" ribbon out of the center with each cut but it leaves a fairly nice slightly rounded "safe" edge...
  19. Has Anyone E V E R Gotten................................................................

Try "Break Parts Cleaner"...they have Chlorinated and non versions...comes in a spray can...I find the chlorinated version works surprisingly well on adhesive but not a huge amount of experience overall as I only borrow it from mechanics when I run out of my normal adhesive/oil remover out on...
