  1. Local ads on this forum?

How do the ad's work on this forum? I just saw one of my customers local ads. I guess it surprised me...I'm not saavy with this kind of thing. Obviously I've seen a million things that I google throughout the day but was surprised to see a local company!
  2. New start!

Find someone (a friend, relative) that is starting a business. Do the logo for free, do some vehicle graphics at cost, maybe some business cards. I started with lettering late models at my local dirt track. Payment upfront is a MUST - it's really not a good idea to mess with race cars cuz you...
  3. I have Retired

WOW! This is priceless! Mr. Ota...thank you for sharing and ENJOY YOUR RETIREMENT!!!
  4. Vinyl for steel tanker for asphalt

LOL!!! Considering there's a good chance this thing will only be used once and then parked again, I shouldn't be overly concerned either...it's the sun that will do the most damage!
  5. Vinyl Sign Graphics Pricing

OP - Definitely consider Gino's advice with insurance, permits, etc. These are things that the "other sign shop" have. It's one reason they are 2 months out. Insurance is VERY important. If you want to proceed forward, call for insurance - you already have business insurance so this should...
  6. Why this Font is Everywhere

I use it here and there but I don't like it. I agree it's very "Vote for Pedro-ish"
  7. Vinyl Sign Graphics Pricing

You're labor is too low. You should charge a minimum of $80+ per hour in-shop. More for on-site. I made the same mistake when I started I only charged $65hr then found out quickly I had to jack it up or not pay my bills.
  8. Vinyl for steel tanker for asphalt

There was vinyl on there and they have most of it removed. There's just maybe 3 square feet on one side to remove yet. It was lettered probably 20 years ago. The truck is from the 80's and it's been sitting for 10 years. He did tell me it's very well insulated and has a tank inside the tank? I...
  9. Vinyl for steel tanker for asphalt

I have to put the company name on a tanker that will never get washed and only used twice a year. The tank is steel - not stainless and used for asphalt. I'm wondering if I can just use Oracal 751 on this?
  10. advice to have my foot in the door to the printing business. equipment/supplies etc..

Well, you have to start somewhere so if the printer in question works and is in your budget then go for it. The best thing you can do is look on YouTube and see how the printer in question works, what kind of quality the prints are, watch someone print then cut. Start small and if things go good...
  11. Installing 14ft banner on square posts

I'm not sure if you should screw into the metal. I like the rope idea best. Is the rope going to slip down the post? Just throwing this out there...could you use rope on the top corners also and get it around that bottom part of the sign just to make sure it doesn't slip down the posts? It...
  12. LOADED question: What do you charge for printing?

I'm in the same boat as The Sign Goddess. I also have a minimum of $25 - no matter how small. I usually tell people those small orders get put on with larger orders so they will have to wait until I run the material again. Most people are fine with waiting. I'm in a small town and have a decent...
  13. Installing 14ft banner on square posts

A few of the 15oz 2'x4' banners I made for the school were put on a chain link fence in the baseball area. The wind zips through violently, banners were fine but the zip ties broke. I was happy to hear the banner didn't tear at the grommets. They moved the banners to another area and they have...
  14. Anyone have this request...................................................... ??

Maybe they don't plan to light the signs? I used to love going to the mall...our closet one closed years ago.
  15. RV Decal swish problem

Exactly what weyandsign said. This is the case where you need to hand trim to create perfection.
  16. Question Aftermarket motorcycle decals legal issue

I would find something else to make. I have made a couple here and there for locals who are refinishing antique tractors or antique snowmobiles but would never try to sell online or produce multiples of any one thing. Plenty of other work to do.
  17. Knowledgeable, Experienced and Professional Sign Veteran Seeking Remote Work

IDK - I worked in a marketing department that had onsite staff of 40 just in one division, 20 in another and 50 in various states. I was involved in the resume and hiring process with several new employees. His resume (I'm guessing not as in-your-face as the tone here) would have gotten serious...
  18. Knowledgeable, Experienced and Professional Sign Veteran Seeking Remote Work

I'm still stuck on "Get used to it" to start the thread. Who on earth says that???? People are not going to be nice to you on this site - GET USED TO IT.
  19. looking for vehicle outline software

I think most of them are subscription based now? I know you can buy single templates on Mr. Clipart, not sure about Pro Vehicle OL.
  20. Shipping Boxes

I always thought about getting the tubing and the sealer Gary posted. Hmm, maybe that will be my next purchase! I wouldn't have to cut any bags down then.
