  1. Salesperson from large company trying to steal clients?

I just got pretty snippy with a salesperson from a larger commercial printer about 30 miles away (35 employees). I am a one-person shop. She was first asking if I ever needed any large format printing done or high volume. I said sometimes and asked if they do wholesale pricing. She said no -...
  2. Vehicle wrap training options/recommendations.

One more comment. A couple weeks ago I hired a random guy to teach me to wrap a police car. I ended up firing him the next day but a few things I noticed... He had good technique with the heat gun and squeegee and was able to "feel" the vinyl and mold it around curves. He did a good job of...
  3. Vehicle wrap training options/recommendations.

I vote for Justin Pates class. I agree with notareal - five years is a long time, he should be up to speed by now.
  4. Vehicle wrap training options/recommendations.

Comment here from the peanut gallery. Signheremd mentioned Justin Pate's videos - THEY ARE REALLY GOOD. I don't really do any wrapping but got stuck doing it a week ago and watching his videos were EXTREMELY helpful!! He was representing Avery but I used Arlon SLX and I didn't really notice any...
  5. Our most valued employee has passed.

I'm sorry for your loss. It sounds like he was a proud employee and enjoyed his time working just as much as you!
  6. 35' RV Full Wrap Install Time

    Bigly. LOL
  7. Customer wanting to use trademarked logo on their signage

The Chevrolet dealer across the street from me I'm SURE has permission to use the Chevy logos. They have been here for 50 years+. I do magnets for them for parades, etc. The large sign they have is lighted so another company does that. I handle the smaller stuff. I never worry about it. If it...
  8. Need Help Looks like black ink is pooling to edges of small dots.

Would you be able to post your artwork also?
  9. Sharpie on laminate

Tell them to go over it with a dry erase marker! I've done it on various things and it works great!
  10. PERFORATED VINYL can anyone explain the numbers?

Just to reiterate - DO NOT USE APPLICATION FLUID. Some of us have problems printing on the window perf so for the first time you do this it would be wise to babysit your machine.
  11. Why the color variations?

In this case I would print some samples and match the orange to my Color Bridge. Usually all the colors won't match on the screen.
  12. Rant Hiring Installers

It must've been Bill! I took him for $100 per hour but that included "training". He told me the going rate was $800 per wrap for installation. He also said it would take him 3 hours per side. Turns out it only took me, the unexperienced peon that I am, 1.25 hours per side. So, if Gnubler pays...
  13. Hand Painted Vintage Race Cars - very few left

That's awesome! Until recently I didn't even know engine turn was ever hand painted. It seems like one of the more difficult things to paint!
  14. Ford Explorer Door Handle HELP!

You are exactly right! I have to say, that video I watched was very helpful. I did it like this and it was much easier than I expected. Yes- pulling that backer paper off at the center hinge was slightly nerve wracking LOL
  15. Cutting weird

Check to make sure your blade is tight...this happened to me once. Not sure after that ...
  16. Ford Explorer Door Handle HELP!

Oscar got them back on in 5 minutes LOL
  17. Ford Explorer Door Handle HELP!

No worries! It's soooo much easier with them off. My guy Oscar said Fords are the worst. For the next squad I'm keeping them on. This is the first time I've had to turn to the body shop in 5 years so I'd say that's a pretty good record!
  18. Rant Hiring Installers

I think if you can find someone who you can train, that would be your best bet. You don't go to college to wrap so it's a learned on the job skill which means the pool is slim. You would likely be pulling someone from another shop which means you will need to pay well. I had a horrible...
  19. Ford Explorer Door Handle HELP!

Thank you!!! I wish I had posted sooner or I would not have removed the handles! It's going in again today to put the passenger side back in. Good thing I know the guys and I won't get a full bill. He has another squad and I'm going to leave the handles on. What a PITA this has become. Live and...
