I had that happened once... I unplugged the printer from the wall for about 30min and initiated a new setup.. it did the trick...

I happen to have the same issue with the yellow head, which is an OEM head! I have ordered a new one, should arrive this coming week. If I have the same issue with that I will start looking for a leak in the line and also pull some ink up through the ink line as well,, and see what happens..

Did you ever resolved the print head not seating problem,, and if so how did you do it??

When using white ink you should lay down a good amount of pretreatment, sometime maybe even tow coats.. Also you may want to look into Hp latex printer,, just an idea,, also see if you can sat your printer to print the white twice and check to see if you can buy better quality ink..

I am happy to say that I solved my hp designjet 5500 constant reseat printhead messages on the Lmagenta side. I installed a new lines lens also had to shim the printhead on one side and shimmed the top as well, after restart the problem went away,,, at least for now..

Just learned yesterday online in one of the Hp forums that some printers such as the designjet 5500 which I have actually can tell which year was your print head released, if the print head lets say 6 years old the printer will reject that head. No wonder HP has a class action lawsuit against...

Was wondering which ink are you using for canvas and outdoor banners? Right now I have Dye ink in my 5500ps printer,,, I am new to this machine I use to have a Roland.. and how much of a hassle is to change over inks,, like from dye to latex or UV (pigment) inks..

Print head chip? Do anyone know where to purchase printhead chips for the HP 5500? I am looking for the one called the smart chip with four contacts.. I was told replacing this chip will reset the printhead,,, printer thinks you installed a new printhead.
