  1. What makes your shop FUN?

Snakes aren't pets. We shoot em round here.
  2. what size posts for a 108" by 60" sign?

In my opinion, you need to bring your posts inside of the 108" Make the post around 7' apart or so and run your 2x4s vertical instead of the horizontal you have shown. I mean flat against the posts instead of turned sideways in between em.
  3. Is this a font

Thank you. I think you nailed it. I don't think I would have found it otherwise.
  4. Is this a font

Hi, I'm looking to find this font to produce these letters in a different size. It may not be a font, but even if anyone knows of one close that I could start with. Thanks in advance
  5. 10x6 sign on corrugated metal. what material? mounting hardware?

What substrate was used? I don't see a seam in the picture. :thumb:
  6. frosted glass

As far as your frosted glass project, put etch on the outside of the glass and a med grey opaque vinyl from the inside. Etch on both sides may work, but you won't really be 100% non-see-thru.
  7. Buying new Printer..WHICH ONE?!!

I'm going to put my 2 cents in. We purchased a slightly used Roland SP-300V many years ago (the printer just turned 10 years old this month and still gets used everyday) and didn't know if it would be beneficial to our business or not. We quickly learned that color frustrations and wasted...
  8. Any tips for laminating 10' X 40' banners?

I agree. That is a lot of work for the end result. I use a vendor to print my billboards for me that offers a UV coating for an additional 30 or 40 cents per sq/ft. That's too cheap to fool with doing it myself in my opinion.
  9. Light Cyan and Light Magenta

Very good info, but unfortunate since I have learned to use Versaworks solely, and am very comfortable with it.
  10. Light Cyan and Light Magenta

"And as far as CMYK being all you need. Maybe that’s true. Until you need to print Pantone 021, or Home Depot Orange, or AT&T Orange." Correct Color, for some reason I couldn't quote your post when you said this, but I have a question. I run a CMYK Roland, and am a stickler for color, and...
  11. Magnet cutter

I like where you're going with that, but how are you going to keep the center swiveling perfect and not walking and skewing your circle at all?
  12. 3x4' Hanging Sign Substrate and hanging advice

In a nutshell, HDU is overkill for vinyl graphics. HDU lends itself more for sandblasting, carving and routing than plain jane vinyl lettering.
  13. looking for clear or transparent printable vinyl

I also use a lot of 3651 clear although I have noticed it wants to shrink a bit. For a translucent vinyl, I use Oracal 3850 as well.
  14. How Would You Hang This?

I agree with a form of metal frame. Also I would run guy wires to keep the actual hanger from being able to move side to side at all, and another to support the weight by running from the end of the pole to the building. So in a word, I'd go for it, but no such thing as overkill on something...
  15. Engineer Grade white reflective Vinyl for plotting

I would buy a small quantity of 5700 series before you buy a roll and run through your printer. I've struggled in the past to print on it compared to the 5600 (Same profile) and as mentioned earlier, it doesn't weed or cut as easily.
  16. Oracal Color Wheels?

I have an 851 (shows it age) color wheel just like that, that came from my local supplier. Good luck in your searches, I wish I had some newer ones.
  17. Am I the only one?

I can handle moving the - and () up, but the smaller numbers than type drive me nuts. I do a lot of directional signage and fixing the kerning and size of numbers takes precious time. I have noticed that some of the Letter Head fonts have the correct kerning for the 1 for instance, but Arial...
  18. Engineer Grade white reflective Vinyl for plotting

Also a fan of Oracal 5600 series. I don't use new sharp blades though, I use dull blades and turn the pressure up. I have to be careful about cuts near the edge, but I have learned how to effectively do it over the years and don't despise reflective anymore. If there is anything I do despise...
  19. What is the best chemical for removing vinyl and glue?

As stated above, Rapid Remover is only for the glue, and it's the best there is in my opinion. Vinyl off is supposed to be good for removing the vinyl and glue in one fell swoop, but I've never had that kind of luck with it, I usually cut the vinyl off with a razor blade, or plastic razor...
  20. Color Chart.......................

I thought I would try, but I'm not much help on the 339. The 4695 I thought was half-azz close to 3m Deep Mahogany Brown which is actually closer to 4625. Nothing else was even worth mentioning. Good luck!
