  1. Switching from diecut to printed wraps... Design help needed

We might be of a minority, but 99% of our designs are vector based fully. Of the last 35 wrap designs only one had a photo. So all our designs come out of illustrator. But before you can effectively wrap anything, you need an effective brand worthy of wrap. Most small businesses do not have a...
  2. What's your New Years Business Resolutions?

That's good Pat. The more your perceived to be the same as all the other shops, the more the consumer wants to make your service a commodity, from which to compare to all the other shops. Offer them something no one else has (and to do so, you focus on that type of work) - and then name your...
  3. here are some business card fronts for you to unleash your wrath on

Maybe some inspiration here might help? But before you go there, you need to make sure the brand is solid. http://www.graphicd-signs.com/portfolio-stationery-design#1
  4. What's the name of that book?

There's about 50 articles you can download from my site which you may find useful as well (and they're free!). http://www.graphicd-signs.com/about-published-works I'm knee-deep into my third book. 1st quarter release I hope (and pray). It's kicking my butt, so to speak. But most of the heavy...

  6. USSC Sign Show Atlantic City- Come say hi and get free full color yard signs!

Yeh Rick's booth just said 'wholesale digital printing' and nothing about Typestries - and I almost didn't find it myself (and there's not really that many booths sadly). Anyway, I busted his chops for not using his new stellar logo! Sorry we didn't get to meet---

  10. Getting our new site ready for 2012.

Looks great Joe. Minor comment - I thought it was maybe a tad generic looking considering your insane work and would like maybe a little more of your personality in the site? Maybe a 'Services' section should be included. You are showing great work, but you don't speak to the specific...
  11. A Yellow Pages question - sort of

Don't waste your money Colin. Put the same budget on Adwords, if you must (if your current site doesn't rank organically). LEast if you do that, the people clicking are actually interested in your services. As for Yellow Pages print, we pulled ALL of our clients out and redirected a small...
  12. What to do with low ball competitors

Hah, Rich Dombey was a genius for coining that phrase. And it's so true. Lets put it another way: I have spent the last fifteen years making sure every job put out there is top shelf. Is it a coincidence that we've developed the reputation for putting out top shelf work? Nothing wrong with bread...
  13. "Can you email me the file?"

When we do have smaller work, not project work, its billed hourly @ 135/hr. But most project work, were we to actually calculate by hours, would be much higher. Reason being , like you said, is why should I penalize my business because we're faster than other people? When people say 'Oh that...
  14. "Can you email me the file?"

The second problem that may arise is your definition - 'semi-logo'. Im sure you did a great design because you don't cut corners and want everything to look nice. Did that design then appear on his shirts or elsewhere? What did the language of the contract state about the rights to this...
  15. "Can you email me the file?"

Cmon Colin my friend, why are you doing artwork in the first place for 'free' as part of the printing job? Now you make a service a commodity. "The fee to design your card is $xx and you own the art. We can print your card as well for $xx". Specify deliverables and ownership at onset and all...
  16. Dan Antonelli for the win in a HVAC mobile marketing contest

Thanks guys! We're doing their web site right now actually. Pretty cool retro style, (of course!). We are getting a lot of specific inquiries into this specific genre, so the work we're putting out is definitely marketing itself. We have three new retro brands and wrap designs we booked in last...
  17. Signs101 WRAP CONTEST

Darn, guess I'm out since we only design. Oh well :(
  18. Source for custom dye sublimation printing on fabric

Was wondering if anyone had a source for printing some dye sub printing on fabric with a custom design. We want to re-wrap the panels on our workstations (the tan ones) with more of our corporate colors. They pop out and can easily be recovered.
  19. Playing with my logo a bit...

The caricature doesn't seem retro enough in style to me to go with the other elements. I really like it, just doesn't feel quite indicative of the period you are going after. Layout looks great-
