  1. New Van Wrap

I like the original better as well. But like others noted here, I think web site addy is more important than the phone number. The original design is a really neat approach - and it does stand out among the clutter because its unique. I think the design you got some inspiration from worked for...
  2. Trailer wrap we rolled out Friday

    Nice job!
  3. Two new vector-based, retro inspired wraps, and a question on solid color printing

Thanks Johnny (and others). The funny thing about setting the bar high for yourself is that it means the next go around needs to be even better. I'm always trying to 'outdo' ourself on each job. And that does get harder and harder. But it's a philosophy which has served us well. Complacency...
  4. premade/template websites....

Lot of guys keep saying this (and I'm kind of happy they do), but in my experience, META is still a critical component. RE: Dreamweaver- we still hand code from scratch, but use DW to manage content loading. Just seems a little easier.
  5. premade/template websites....

I really want to help you so we can work together and randomly quote Rush and apply it to everyday situations... Can't believe the rock and roll hall of fame snubbed them again this year. What a joke!! Off topic, but you should check out Porcupine Tree if you haven't heard them. They're the...
  6. premade/template websites....

Flash still has its place, but the last 50 web sites or so we've done use JQuery. Those that do use it usually have a mobile detector. For example, this is 100% CSS/JQuery - http://www.brushmarkssigns.com/
  7. premade/template websites....

This all goes to speaking about return on investment. So costing an arm and leg (as you put it lol) is fine, so long as you see a substantial return on investment. In this case (pretty sure) and the last two sign company sites we've built, the investment was paid for within 30 days or so of...
  8. Two new vector-based, retro inspired wraps, and a question on solid color printing

The electrician's one has a version of the logo which is mirrored, so that one works perfect on both sides. The HVAC one, I decided to have logo break the plane of the angled striping so that I could carry the stripes to the rear and keep it symmetrical. Not quite as ideal, but still works OK.
  9. Two new vector-based, retro inspired wraps, and a question on solid color printing

Here's two new wrap jobs that should be done shortly. We had a lot of fun on these ones, and clearly I'm loving working with the retro genre. We're blessed to be getting a lot of calls for this specific type of work, and it's a lot of fun to research and execute this style. I had a question...
  10. premade/template websites....

I'm sure templated solutions have their place, but your online presence for a custom shop is not where I would suggest using one. Unless all your signs are templated, wouldn't you want your own site to speak to your corporate identity and image? Isn't that what you're selling - image? Keep in...
  11. 3 handmade signs for an amusement park

    Beautiful!
  12. Postcard Layout

    Awesome work buddy.
  13. a couple wraps

Installs look great. Sad to see the design on the cupcake one. Really wasted opportunity to do something cool. The problem probably had more to do with their lack of branding. Most businesses don't seem to understand that before you can make an effective wrap, you need a good brand message...
  14. ...about this twitter thing

We just feed our business Facebook posts to Twitter. We have about 700 followers on FB and 300 or so roughly on Twitter.... Hard enough to maintain one account - so we like that setup since it's automatic. Using it effectively is all about top of mind advertising, without annoying the...
  15. Copyright infringment/ and or Fair Use?

Yeh I don't mind Chuck at LHF using it and I had given him permission long time ago. Wow, the other logo site ripped it off though, sheesh. I didn't see the comments you were referring to. Yes, I saw the anti-meat site use the logo too. I'm awaiting to see if the client intends to pursue...
  16. Copyright infringment/ and or Fair Use?

No they bastardized a logo we designed, and used it without permission to parody a national candidate. I don't think anyone 'profited' from it, but nonetheless, they used my client's mark in unflattering context, which in theory, is harmful to their brand. The original post shows both original...
  17. Copyright infringment/ and or Fair Use?

I just showed it to the client and they were not pleased to have their mark used in this manner. Not sure if they will pursue it any further. Yes, they would be the ones to pursue this, not me as the original designer. But as the original designer, I might point it out to the offending party...
  18. Copyright infringment/ and or Fair Use?

No I think the latter, but is there something you're getting at?
  19. Copyright infringment/ and or Fair Use?

The new Google IMages search is great. Drag a JPG into the search bar and it will find wherever a copy of it is online or visually similar. So I dragged some of my logos off my web site, and low and behold they start popping all over the place. Here's an example. My cherished...
  20. First Portfolio Post Here

Nice job and layout. Only critique would be use of scripts for phone number, but it's minor point. Very nice design.
