  1. Looking for...a better Substrate cutter

Just got off the phone with the owner of Saw Systems...turns out he used to work for Saw Trax and then of course has intimate knowledge of their panel saws. They went their separate ways and he then started his own. Sounds like he's tried to improve on what the competition offers, they just...
  2. Looking for...a better Substrate cutter

Anyone hear of this company? http://sawsystems.net/signpackages.html
  3. Hello from a really new Newbie!

Welcome from Washington State!!!! Oh really now?! I must be just some schlep that aught to just close up shop then. Thanks for setting me straight, I feel SO much better now that we've gotten that all figured out...sorry to have offended. I've been PT for over 4 years now (with about...
  4. Carbon fiber and Realistic Flames

I've you have enough of those DOTS, then it WILL look like carbon fiber...I don't understand what you're saying or something. If you make the bugger 1000000 PPI, then you're sure as heck gonna have a whole bunch more DOTS to represent the LOOK of carbon fiber than if at 10 PPI.
  5. Carbon fiber and Realistic Flames

You can make a nice carbon fill with the Alien Skin texture plug-in [for Photoshop and/or Photopaint].
  6. Formata

    Thanks for the insight!
  7. Triangle inks??

This is something that you can be told how to do, if you're willing to buy the related equipment (spectrophotometer) and if your RIP allows you to create profiles with it. Still better is to get training AND have the equipment so you can make profiles for all your media current and future.
  8. Formata

Not to hijack the thread, but another one I'm particularly fond of is Poppl-Laudatio. Even though I didn't need for any specific job, I liked it so much I just bought...well ALL of them in OpenType. I didn't (and still don't really) understand the difference between the BE and BQ, I just...
  9. built a computer! Thoughts and changes possible.

How do you go about using one of the drives as a SWAP drive? I understand the concept, but unsure of the execution.
  10. built a computer! Thoughts and changes possible.

Found this locally, used for $500. This is obviously a server, but are the specs pretty fair for the $$$? Seems like it, but then again used computer stuff is a toss-up. If someone that knows something about this, what else would I want here? Seems like I'd want a coupla larger HDs, right...
  11. built a computer! Thoughts and changes possible.

Yep, good timing for me as well. I've built a few over the years, but always like to see what others are doing too. I'm in the need of another station, so this is helpful.
  12. Crossroad for the my business...

My wife found out about Wall Words a while back, and started doing something very similar for some people locally...she decided to call them Welcome Words...still VERY much a fledgling part of our business, but a good idea as has been said.
  13. Hello from the Northwest

    W E L C O M E ! ! ! Where are you located? We are north of Seattle in Marysville...soon to be in Arlington.
  14. Banner Pricing

Mine vary PSF. I use sort of a tiered pricing structure, meaning that small things are more expensive PSF and it gets cheaper (up to a point) the larger it is. Example: 1-color 2x4 banner is $63 ($7.88 PSF) and a 1-color 4x10 is $251 ($6.28 PSF). Each add'l color is about 25% more. This is...
  15. Juice Drops

I like the HighImpact, CleanCuts and SubtleImpact ones the best so far.
  16. showing print head lines

True, unidirectional will produce the absolute best print quality, but at glacial speeds :-)
  17. showing print head lines

Hmmm, I've NEVER performed a medium or powerful cleaning on my machine in the 2+ years I've had it....only the normal ones. If that doesn't work, then I'll perform a manual cleaning.
  18. showing print head lines

That's commonly called "banding" and can also be adjusted with your Media Feed Calibration, which typically needs to be adjusted with variations in material thickness. Have you done an Environmental Match today?
  19. what cutting software do you use ?

Corel coupled with CoCut Pro here too
  20. Servers for Dummies

As far as I can tell, they all share the same or very similar white. 3951, however, is significantly more "yellow" in my opinion.
